Job Description

We are looking for a Senior Full Stack Engineer who thrives in a fast-paced, product-driven engineering environment. You will own critical features end-to-end — from database schema design and backend API development to frontend interfaces — while contributing to system architecture decisions that impact scalability, reliability, and performance.

This role demands a Python-first engineer who lives in Django daily, understands distributed systems, and can build production-grade web applications that handle high throughput with low latency. You will work closely with cross-functional teams including product, design, and QA to ship features that directly impact business outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

Backend Development & Architecture

• Design, develop, and maintain scalable REST APIs using Python and Django REST Framework, ensuring high performance, security, and reliability.
• Architect and implement microservices with event-driven patterns, message queues (Celery, RabbitMQ/Redis), and asynchronous task processing to support high-throughput workflows.
• Own database design, optimization, and migrations — write efficient queries, implement indexing strategies, and manage schema evolution on MySQL/PostgreSQL at scale.
• Implement robust authentication and authorization mechanisms including JWT, OAuth2, SSO, and role-based access control (RBAC) across multiple services.

• Build and maintain responsive, user-facing web interfaces using React.js or Angular, collaborating closely with design teams to deliver pixel-perfect, accessible UIs.
• Integrate frontend applications with backend APIs, managing state efficiently and handling real-time updates where required (WebSockets, SSE).
• Optimize frontend performance through code splitting, lazy loading, caching strategies, and bundle optimization.

• Design scalable, fault-tolerant systems that handle high concurrency — implement caching layers, distributed locks, retry mechanisms, circuit breakers, and dead-letter queues.
• Participate in architectural decisions around service decomposition, inter-service communication, data consistency, and horizontal scaling.
• Conduct performance profiling, load testing, and query optimization to ensure SLAs are met under production load.

• Write comprehensive unit and integration tests (pytest/Jest) with 80%+ code coverage, maintaining high code quality through reviews and best practices.
• Manage CI/CD pipelines, containerize applications with Docker, and support deployments on cloud infrastructure (AWS/GCP).
• Mentor junior engineers, conduct code reviews, and contribute to engineering standards, documentation, and knowledge sharing.
• Collaborate with product managers, designers, and stakeholders in Agile/Scrum workflows to deliver features on time.

Technical Non-Negotiables

• 4+ years of professional experience as a Full Stack Developer with Python as the primary language.
• Expert-level proficiency in Django and Django REST Framework — including ORM optimization (select_related, prefetch_related, raw SQL), custom middleware, signals, management commands, and Django admin customization.
• Strong hands-on experience with MySQL and/or PostgreSQL — query optimization, indexing strategies, schema design for high-volume transactional data, and database migrations at scale.
• Production experience with asynchronous task processing using Celery with Redis or RabbitMQ as the message broker.
• Proficient in frontend development with React.js or Angular — building reusable components, managing state (Redux/Context), and consuming REST APIs.
• Experience designing and building RESTful APIs for distributed systems with proper error handling, versioning, pagination, and rate limiting.
• Working experience with Docker, CI/CD pipelines, and cloud services (AWS preferred — EC2, S3, SQS, RDS, CloudFront).
• Strong understanding of Git workflows, code review practices, and Agile development methodologies.

• Demonstrated experience building or maintaining systems handling 10K+ daily transactions or 100K+ daily API requests.
• Understanding of distributed systems concepts: caching strategies, message queues, event-driven architecture, idempotency, race conditions, and concurrency control.
• Experience with database optimization at scale — handling tables with millions of rows, implementing sharding or replication where needed.

• Familiarity with Elasticsearch for search functionality.
• Experience with Kafka or other event streaming platforms.
• Knowledge of WebSocket-based real-time communication (Django Channels or similar).
• Exposure to GraphQL APIs alongside REST.
• Experience with Kubernetes, Terraform, or infrastructure-as-code practices.
• Familiarity with monitoring and observability tools (Grafana, Prometheus, Sentry, Datadog, ELK stack).
• Experience integrating third-party APIs and services (payment gateways, KYC providers, CRM systems, notification services).
• Track record of mentoring junior engineers and contributing to engineering culture.
