About the Opportunity

We are looking for a hands-on Senior Python Software Engineer to join a team working on technology and AI-driven transformation initiatives across a range of industries.

This is a highly technical opportunity for an experienced Python developer who enjoys building software, APIs and data-driven solutions. You will contribute directly to the development and integration of modern technology solutions across sectors including Financial Services, Life Sciences, Pharma and Energy.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop and maintain robust software solutions using Python.
• Build and integrate REST APIs and backend services.
• Develop applications using Python-based frameworks and libraries.
• Work with relational databases and write efficient SQL queries.
• Integrate backend services with other systems and APIs.
• Collaborate with engineers and technical stakeholders to deliver scalable solutions.
• Contribute to technical problem-solving, testing, debugging and continuous improvement.
  

What We’re Looking For

• 4+ years of professional experience in Python development, ideally with 5-8 years of hands-on experience.
• Strong practical experience developing software using Python.
• Experience with one or more Python-based frameworks.
• Strong experience building and integrating REST APIs.
• Solid SQL knowledge and practical experience working with relational databases.
• Strong software engineering and problem-solving skills.
• A proven track record in hands-on development roles rather than primarily managerial or supervisory positions.
  

Nice to Have

• Knowledge or experience with JavaScript.
• Experience working in cloud-based environments.
• Familiarity with modern development practices, CI/CD, Git and containerisation.
• Exposure to AI, data or other emerging technology initiatives.
  

Important Details

• Technical focus: Strong hands-on experience with Python, REST APIs and SQL is essential.
• Technical assessment: You will complete a practical coding assessment as part of the recruitment process to evaluate your programming skills.
• Location: Candidates should be based in Lisbon.
• Travel: Some flexibility around travel will be required, with further details discussed during the initial call.
