About the Role

Brooksource is seeking a Software Engineer II to join a fast-paced engineering team focused on building scalable, cloud-native applications that support critical business operations. This role is ideal for a software engineer with 1-2 years of professional experience who is looking to grow their backend development skills while working with modern technologies, cloud platforms, APIs, and event-driven systems.

You will collaborate with experienced engineers to design, build, test, and support secure, high-quality applications in a cloud environment while gaining exposure to enterprise-scale development practices.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain backend applications using C#, .NET, ASP.NET Core, Python, and SQL.
• Build, test, and support REST APIs and microservices.
• Contribute to cloud-native solutions using AWS services such as Lambda, S3, SQS, SNS, EventBridge, API Gateway, and DynamoDB.
• Assist in developing event-driven applications and asynchronous processing workflows.
• Troubleshoot application issues and support production environments using monitoring and observability tools.
• Participate in code reviews, testing, and continuous improvement efforts.
• Contribute to CI/CD pipelines and automated deployment processes using Git and Azure DevOps.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand requirements and deliver technical solutions.

Required Qualifications

• 1-2 years of professional software development experience through full-time work, internships, co-ops, military experience, or equivalent hands-on development experience.
• Experience with one or more object-oriented programming languages such as C# or Java.
• Exposure to .NET, ASP.NET Core, Python, SQL, or similar backend technologies.
• Understanding of REST APIs and web service development.
• Familiarity with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud.
• Basic understanding of software design principles, testing, and version control tools such as Git.
• Strong problem-solving skills and willingness to learn new technologies.
• Effective communication and collaboration skills.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with AWS services including Lambda, S3, SQS, SNS, EventBridge, API Gateway, or DynamoDB.
• Academic, internship, personal, military, or professional experience building cloud-based applications.
• Exposure to microservices or event-driven architectures.
• Familiarity with CI/CD tools and automated deployment practices.
• Mobile development experience using Swift or Kotlin.
• Experience in financial services, regulated industries, or other enterprise environments.
• Exposure to monitoring tools such as CloudWatch, Dynatrace, or similar platforms.
