Indexed description
Position Summary
Harnham is partnering with a privately held group of businesses spanning automotive, luxury hospitality, entertainment, sports, and adventure to hire an Agentic AI Software Engineer in Houston, Texas.
The organization’s portfolio includes automotive distribution businesses that supply vehicles and support dealership operations, luxury hotels and resorts serving travelers across international destinations, and entertainment businesses involved in developing, producing, and financing film and television. Its interests also extend to professional sports and adventure experiences.
Across the portfolio, businesses serve customers ranging from automotive dealerships to hotel guests and entertainment audiences. The breadth of these operations creates a varied business environment with distinct customer needs, internal systems, and operational processes.
The organization is investing in a new AI team to develop intelligent applications and automated workflows that connect enterprise systems, internal knowledge, and business operations. As the team’s primary agent developer, you will build AI agents and support agents across projects typically valued between $500,000 and $1 million. Your work will enable users to retrieve information, resolve requests, and complete business processes through agents that reason, maintain context, and interact with enterprise tools.
The successful candidate will bring an established background in full stack software engineering, followed by dedicated experience developing AI agents and agentic workflows. Agent development is the primary focus, supported by the application engineering skills needed to deliver secure, reliable products from initial design through production.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and deploy AI agents that interpret user intent, reason through complex tasks, and execute workflows across enterprise applications.
- Build support agents that maintain conversational context, retrieve relevant information, and resolve or escalate user requests.
- Develop agentic workflows integrating LLMs, retrieval augmented generation, APIs, structured data, business logic, and external tools.
- Implement agent memory, context management, tool selection, and orchestration capabilities.
- Build user interfaces using React, Angular, Next.js, or comparable frameworks, supported by Python services and RESTful APIs.
- Develop data ingestion and retrieval pipelines, including integrations with the Databricks Lakehouse platform.
- Connect agents to databases, internal knowledge sources, enterprise systems, and machine learning model endpoints.
- Establish evaluation frameworks, guardrails, fallback mechanisms, and human review processes to support reliable agent behavior.
- Measure and improve accuracy, relevance, task completion, latency, and operating costs.
- Evaluate LLMs, agent architectures, and AI services based on business requirements, performance, reliability, and cost.
- Implement automated testing, CI/CD, monitoring, and secure deployment practices across applications and AI systems.
- Monitor production performance to identify failures, regressions, and opportunities for improvement.
- Partner with product, data science, engineering, and business stakeholders to translate requirements into production applications.
- Apply AI coding tools within the development process while maintaining standards for architecture, security, testing, and code quality.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Systems, or a related technical discipline.
- Eight or more years of experience developing production software applications.
- At least three years of full stack software engineering experience, followed by at least three additional years focused on developing AI agents and agentic workflows.
- Demonstrated experience building and deploying AI agents that interact with APIs, databases, enterprise applications, or external tools. Experience using AI coding assistants alone does not satisfy this requirement.
- Strong Python development skills and experience building backend services and RESTful APIs using frameworks such as FastAPI, Django, or Flask.
- Experience developing frontend applications using React, Angular, Next.js, or similar frameworks.
- Practical experience with LLM integration, RAG, tool calling, and agent orchestration.
- Experience implementing agent memory, context management, retrieval, or evaluation systems.
- Experience building data intensive applications and integrating with data platforms.
- Experience developing and deploying cloud applications.
- Experience incorporating tools such as Claude Code, Codex, or Augment Code into daily development.
- Ability to take ownership from technical design through deployment and ongoing production support.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate across technical and business teams.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with Databricks and Lakehouse architectures.
- Experience with Google Cloud Platform.
- Experience with infrastructure as code and cloud deployment automation.
- Experience delivering software within agile or scrum teams.
