ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY

Hire Right Solution is recruiting a Software Engineer (Fullstack, AI-Native) on behalf of a technology client in Ho Chi Minh City.

You will work across new and existing software products, owning features from technical design and planning through development, testing, deployment and production verification.

This role requires independent thinking, strong engineering fundamentals and accountability for delivery. You will translate product requirements into technical specifications, break work into tasks, estimate effort and commit to delivery dates.

Daily use of AI coding tools is expected. You must be able to evaluate generated code, identify incorrect assumptions and take responsibility for every line shipped.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Technical Design and Planning

• Translate product requirements into technical specifications covering functional requirements, acceptance criteria, data models, service boundaries, state changes and failure scenarios.

• Identify timeline, feasibility and scope concerns during requirements discussions, before development begins.

• Present designs at architecture reviews, explain technical decisions and address gaps identified through feedback.

• Break development work into tasks with estimates in hours and committed delivery dates.

Development and Production Delivery

• Build features end to end, using AI tools where appropriate while applying your own engineering judgement throughout.

• Keep technical specifications current as designs evolve so QA and Engineering work from accurate documentation.

• Write meaningful tests that detect incorrect behaviour and cover relevant edge cases and failure scenarios.

• Review your own work before requesting peer review, and provide supporting evidence of tests, results and verification checks when merging.

• Report progress daily and communicate delivery risks as soon as they are identified, including their impact and proposed solutions.

• Deploy features, verify that they work in production and resolve issues after release.

• Remain accountable for delivery until functionality has been verified in the production environment.

Team Collaboration and Documentation

• Work closely with the Product Manager and QA Engineer from requirements through release.

• Review other engineers’ code, including AI-generated code, with the same care as your own.

• Document system behaviour, technical decisions and operational details so other engineers can maintain and extend your work.

REQUIREMENTS

Education and Professional Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering or a related field.

• 5+ years of professional software development experience, including 3+ years building backend or full-stack services in production.

• Experience designing and owning software systems end to end.

• 3+ years using TypeScript/Node.js or Python as your primary language, plus at least 1 year using the other.

• 2+ years of SQL experience with PostgreSQL, including schema design, migrations, indexing and transactions.

Technical Skills

• Experience designing and owning an end-to-end production data flow, from API or webhook input through queuing or synchronisation, storage and downstream consumption.

• Production experience with message queues such as Kafka, RabbitMQ or SQS, including idempotency and retries.

• Ability to troubleshoot your own services on Kubernetes using kubectl, pod logs, events and rollouts.

• Experience with structured logging and production metrics using Prometheus, Grafana, Loki or equivalent tools.

• Strong understanding of data modelling, transactions, consistency, API design, queues, events, retries and timeouts.

• Understanding of partial failures in network calls and their implications for system behaviour.

• Experience using Git, pull-request code reviews and continuous integration.

• Technical specifications or design documents you have authored and can share, which other engineers have used for implementation or review.

AI-Assisted Software Development

• At least 6 months of daily AI coding tool use on production code, including your own reviews and tests for generated code.

• Hands-on experience with Claude Code, Cursor, GitHub Copilot or similar tools.

• Ability to explain the code you ship and demonstrate how AI has improved your productivity on real projects.

• Ability to identify AI-generated errors, including invented APIs or fields, incorrect data assumptions, race conditions, missing tenant or permission checks and ineffective tests.

• A disciplined approach to understanding problems and planning solutions before generating code.

Ownership and Communication

• Ability to clarify ambiguous requirements and plan for data needs, edge cases, failure modes and verification.

• Ability to take work independently from requirements to production and bring options with a recommendation when blocked.

• A track record of meeting delivery commitments and communicating risks early.

• Experience debugging live systems, interpreting logs and metrics, resolving incidents and documenting root causes.

• Clear, actionable writing for technical specifications, merge requests and progress updates.

• Strong written and spoken English.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Experience with financial, accounting, e-commerce or marketplace systems.

• Experience integrating third-party APIs.

• Familiarity with workflow orchestration tools such as Kestra, Redis or vector search.

• Experience building AI agent workflows, MCP servers or other AI tooling.

• Frontend development experience with React.

• Open-source contributions, a technical blog or demonstrable side projects.
