Software Engineer

Akkodis is seeking a Software Engineer for one of our clients in Dearborn, Michigan.

Rate Range: $55.00/hour to $62.00/hour; the rate may be negotiable based on experience, education, geographic location, and other factors.

We are seeking a highly skilled software engineer to design, develop, and support cloud-native applications, enterprise integrations, developer platforms, and AI-enabled solutions that accelerate engineering and business outcomes.

This role is focused on backend engineering, Google Cloud Platform (GCP), DevOps, platform engineering, and modern software development practices.

The ideal candidate will have deep experience building scalable APIs, cloud services, CI/CD pipelines, enterprise integrations, and AI-powered applications. The successful candidate will help drive the development of next-generation AI solutions while supporting enterprise-scale products and platforms.

Responsibilities include designing and developing cloud-native applications on GCP, building and enhancing AI-enabled applications that support engineering and business workflows, integrating applications with enterprise systems and knowledge sources, developing reusable platform capabilities for orchestration and AI services, and supporting emerging AI architectures such as Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG), agentic workflows, Model Context Protocol (MCP), and intelligent workflow automation.

This individual will also evaluate new technologies, establish engineering best practices, and provide technical leadership across cloud, AI, and platform initiatives.

Work arrangement is 4 days onsite and 1 day work-from-home.

Required Skills

• 6+ years of software engineering experience.
• Strong programming experience with Java and Python.
• Deep expertise with Google Cloud Platform (GCP), including Cloud Run, BigQuery, cloud-native services, and containerized application deployments.
• Strong experience designing and developing scalable RESTful APIs, microservices, and enterprise integrations.
• Hands-on experience building AI-enabled applications and integrating AI services into enterprise solutions.
• Experience with AI architectures and concepts including RAG, agentic workflows, prompt engineering, orchestration frameworks, and intelligent automation.
• Strong DevOps background, including CI/CD pipeline development, automation, source control, containerization, and deployment best practices.
• Experience with data analysis, data processing, and cloud-based analytical platforms.
• Strong understanding of solution architecture, application design patterns, scalability, security, and performance optimization.
• Ability to provide technical guidance, mentor engineers, and contribute to architectural decisions.

Preferred Skills

• Strong Solution Architecture experience.
• Experience developing reusable developer platforms and shared engineering capabilities.
• Knowledge of Model Context Protocol (MCP) and advanced AI orchestration frameworks.
• UI/UX design experience and a strong understanding of user-centered application development.
• Experience supporting Product Development or engineering organizations within large enterprise environments.
• Experience leading cloud transformation and platform modernization initiatives.

Education

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, or a related technical field.
