Job Title: QA Tester – MDM / SQL / API & ETL Testing

Location: Cleveland, OH (Preferred) / Pittsburgh, PA / Dallas, TX

Work Arrangement: Hybrid / 2 days onsite Onsite in a week

Job Summary

We are looking for an experienced QA Tester with strong expertise in SQL Testing, API Testing, ETL Testing, and Master Data Management (MDM). The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience in validating enterprise data, testing APIs using SOAPUI or Postman, executing data reconciliation, and developing automation scripts for API and data validation.

The candidate will work closely with development, data engineering, MDM, business, and QA teams to ensure data accuracy, integration quality, and reliability of enterprise applications.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and execute test cases for enterprise applications involving MDM, APIs, databases, and ETL pipelines.
• Perform functional, integration, regression, system, and data validation testing.
• Validate APIs and web services using Postman and SOAPUI.
• Understand API specifications and execute API requests for testing and validation.
• Validate API request and response payloads, status codes, headers, authentication, and business rules.
• Perform end-to-end testing of APIs and downstream/upstream system integrations.
• Design and execute SQL queries for backend data validation and reconciliation.
• Perform ETL testing to validate data extraction, transformation, and loading processes.
• Validate source-to-target data mappings, transformations, data completeness, and data accuracy.
• Test data quality, data integrity, and consistency across multiple systems.
• Develop automation scripts for API testing and data validation.
• Automate repetitive test scenarios using appropriate scripting languages and frameworks.
• Identify, document, and track defects using tools such as Jira or equivalent.
• Perform root-cause analysis for data mismatches, API failures, and integration issues.
• Collaborate with developers, data engineers, MDM teams, and business analysts to resolve defects.
• Execute test cases across development, QA, UAT, and production validation environments.
• Prepare test plans, test scenarios, test cases, test data, and execution reports.
• Participate in Agile/Scrum ceremonies, sprint planning, and defect triage meetings.
• Support release validation and ensure quality standards are met before deployment.

Required Skills

1. SQL Testing

• Strong hands-on experience with SQL testing and backend data validation.
• In-depth knowledge of SQL queries, joins, subqueries, aggregations, and data filtering.
• Experience validating data across multiple relational database tables.
• Ability to write complex SQL queries for data reconciliation and validation.
• Experience with data integrity, completeness, and accuracy testing.
• Knowledge of database testing concepts and defect identification.

2. API Testing

• Strong experience with API testing and validation.
• Understanding and execution of APIs using Postman or SOAPUI.
• Experience testing REST and SOAP APIs.
• Knowledge of HTTP methods such as GET, POST, PUT, PATCH, and DELETE.
• Experience validating API request/response payloads, status codes, headers, and business rules.
• Understanding of JSON and XML data formats.
• Experience with API authentication and authorization concepts.
• Ability to validate API integration with backend databases and downstream systems.

3. ETL Testing

• Proficient in ETL Testing concepts and methodologies.
• Strong experience with source-to-target data validation.
• Ability to validate data extraction, transformation, and loading processes.
• Experience testing data completeness, data quality, and data reconciliation.
• Strong SQL knowledge for ETL data validation.
• Experience identifying data mismatches and transformation defects.
• Knowledge of ETL tools such as IBM DataStage, Informatica, or equivalent is preferred.

4. Automation Testing

• Ability to build automation scripts for API testing and data validations.
• Experience automating API test scenarios and validating response data.
• Ability to automate SQL-based data validation and reconciliation.
• Knowledge of scripting languages such as Python, Java, or JavaScript.
• Experience with API automation frameworks or tools.
• Familiarity with CI/CD integration for automated testing is a plus.

5. Master Data Management (MDM)

• Prior working knowledge of Master Data Management (MDM).
• Understanding of master data concepts, data quality, and data governance.
• Experience testing MDM applications and workflows.
• Knowledge of customer, party, account, product, or other master data domains.
• Experience validating MDM data integration with upstream and downstream applications.
• Understanding of data matching, standardization, deduplication, and survivorship concepts.
• Experience with IBM InfoSphere MDM is preferred.

Education

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
