Java / Scala Developer

Join Morgan Stanley's Technology division and help build and enhance critical applications supporting global financial operations. We are looking for a Java / Scala Developer to work on large-scale data processing, distributed computing, backend services, and cloud-ready applications as part of a global team spanning Budapest, New York, London, Montreal and India.

You will:

• Design, develop and maintain enterprise applications using Java and Scala
• Parallelize and optimize accounting calculations using Apache Spark
• Build and maintain backend RESTful web services
• Manage and improve batch data processing workflows and orchestration processes
• Support application deployment and DevOps automation initiatives
• Collaborate with global teams across multiple regions
• Participate throughout the full software development lifecycle, from requirements gathering through production deployment
• Contribute to application performance, scalability and stability improvements

✅ You have:

• Strong hands-on experience with Java and Spring Framework
• Experience with Scala or other object-oriented programming languages
• Strong SQL and relational database skills (SQL Server, Oracle, Sybase or DB2)
• Experience working with Agile development methodologies
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Experience developing enterprise-grade backend applications

• Apache Spark experience
• Hadoop and MongoDB experience
• UNIX/Linux troubleshooting and application debugging skills
• Python, Shell Scripting, AutoSys or Perl experience
• Angular, React, JavaScript or TypeScript knowledge
• Financial services, accounting or capital markets experience
• Reporting, data analytics or data science exposure
• DevOps and CI/CD automation experience
