Creative Producer, Division of Communications and Marketing - UT System Administration

The creative producer exercises independent creative judgment, strategic content planning and specialized technical skill in video, photography and multimedia storytelling. This role leads end-to-end production for high-profile projects on behalf of the UT System, including the Office of the President and the UT Board of Trustees. The creative producer’s work enhances brand recognition, supports leadership communications, reinforces public trust and demonstrates the university’s statewide impact.
Responsibilities
Creative Direction and Production
- Plan, design, and lead the creative direction, filming, photography and post-production of high-profile multimedia content that advances presidential and systemwide communications and marketing priorities
- Capture high-quality video and still imagery across diverse settings — from studio shoots and environmental portraits to statewide campus/institute environments, student life, research, outreach, special events and presentations — for use in digital, print and social media materials
- Manage all phases of production — from concept development and scripting to editing and delivery — ensuring quality, consistency and brand alignment across platforms
- Develop narrative packages, long-form videos and presentation materials that communicate UT’s mission and statewide impact with clarity and emotional resonance
- Ensure all content reflects the UT System’s visual identity standards and brand voice
- Collaborate with leadership and colleagues – within and outside the division – to assess needs, recommend creative approaches and plan multimedia projects that support executive messaging, institutional campaigns and brand storytelling
- Translate complex topics into compelling visual narratives that engage diverse audiences and strengthen understanding of the UT System’s mission and value
- Partner with campus/institute communicators and system staff to ensure coordination, consistency and alignment across institutions
- Apply analytics and performance data to inform creative strategy and optimize reach, engagement and effectiveness
- Conduct research to identify trends, best practices and creative techniques
- Recommend new tools, formats and approaches
- Manage multiple projects simultaneously, balancing priorities and deadlines in a fast-paced environment
- Coordinate logistics for on-site and statewide productions, including scheduling, permissions, travel and vendor or freelance support as needed
- Track production expenses and vendor costs to ensure efficient use of resources and adherence to approved budgets
- Maintain organized project files, digital asset libraries and production archives
- Ensure deliverables meet or exceed expectations in quality, timeliness and brand representation
- Support the visual documentation of UT System leadership engagements, events and statewide initiatives
- Provide production support for urgent communications needs and media opportunities
- Maintain FAA drone certification and ensure compliance with all institutional and federal safety and privacy guidelines
- Contribute to a collaborative, creative culture within the UT System Division of Communications and Marketing
- Bachelor’s degree in communications, journalism, film, photography, marketing or a related field
- Minimum of three years of progressively responsible experience in creative direction, multimedia production or visual communications
- FAA Part 107 Remote Pilot Certification or the ability to obtain certification within three months following hire and maintain certification throughout employment.
- Demonstrated expertise in video production, photography, editing and post-production
- Advanced ability with professional cameras, lighting and audio equipment
- Strong technical understanding of image composition, exposure, motion and sound design
- Proficiency with Adobe Creative Cloud (Premiere Pro, After Effects, Photoshop, Lightroom, Audition) or comparable professional production software on Mac operating systems
- Proven ability to manage complex projects independently, from concept through delivery, including scheduling, logistics and on-site production management
- Exceptional creative judgment, attention to detail and technical precision in visual storytelling
- Strong understanding of brand strategy, visual identity and how to align creative work with institutional goals
- Ability to collaborate effectively with executives, senior leaders and cross-functional creative teams, including designers, writers and marketing professionals
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Able to interact professionally with diverse audiences, including students, faculty, alumni, community members and public officials
- Ability to work calmly under pressure, balance multiple projects and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
- Demonstrated reliability, professionalism and receptiveness to feedback and constructive criticism
- Commitment to privacy, copyright and release requirements
- Ability to manage and maintain organized digital asset archives and file documentation
- Willingness to work non-traditional hours and frequent statewide travel as required
- Minimum of five years of progressively responsible experience in creative direction, multimedia production or visual communications
- FAA drone certification
- Experience producing content for executive communications, higher education or public service organizations
- Familiarity with brand governance, institutional communications and enterprise-level campaigns
- Recognition for creative excellence (regional or national awards)
- Knowledge of the UT System or Tennessee higher education landscape
Compensation And Benefits
Compensation for this position is budgeted for $55,000 to $65,000.
