Job description:

East West Gem Co. is hiring an Ecommerce Manager, Digital Systems to lead the technical operation of our three Shopify storefronts: East West Gem Co., Created Rings, and Everly Rings.

This is a role for someone who loves solving complicated Ecommerce problems, but may be ready to do it somewhere that feels very different from a traditional tech environment.

We’re a female-founded and led jewelry company with beautiful offices in Charleston and New York, all-female teams, dog-friendly workplaces, and a culture that values both ambitious work and having a life outside of it. You’ll have significant ownership over the systems behind three growing consumer brands while working alongside a highly creative, collaborative team.

You’ll own how our Ecommerce tools work together, improve the accuracy of product and order data, and guide the development work that supports our next stage of growth. We’re looking for someone who can move comfortably between the details of a Shopify configuration and the larger digital roadmap, translating business needs into technical requirements, working effectively with developers, and making complex systems understandable to a nontechnical team.

This is a leadership-level opportunity with meaningful autonomy and the potential to grow into a Director of E-Commerce & Digital Technology role as the company continues to scale.

What you’ll own

● Manage the performance, configuration, updates, and troubleshooting of three Shopify

stores and their connected apps.

● Lead the ecommerce side of integrations with our ERP, POS, customer service,

fulfillment, email, analytics, and other business platforms.

● Partner with operations and external developers on our goPIRO implementation,

including product and order data mapping, workflow design, testing, and issue

resolution.

● Establish reliable processes for maintaining a large product catalog, including variants,

SKUs, pricing, inventory, and bulk uploads.

● Scope development projects, write clear requirements, evaluate proposed solutions,

manage outside partners and budgets, and test work before release.

● Maintain a prioritized digital systems roadmap that balances immediate site needs with

longer-term improvements across our brands.

● Monitor site performance, conversion, tracking, and data quality; investigate problems

and turn findings into practical improvements.

● Own the technical setup of email segments, automated flows, discount rules, and

promotions in partnership with the team creating the content.

● Document system architecture, key workflows, and change processes so the business is

never dependent on one person’s knowledge.

● Set appropriate standards for platform access, permissions, and change management

across ecommerce tools.

Technical experience we’re looking for

● Deep, hands-on Shopify experience, including products and variants, metafields,

collections, discounts, apps, bulk imports, and storefront troubleshooting.

● Experience connecting ecommerce platforms to ERP, POS, inventory, order

management, or fulfillment systems.

● A practical understanding of APIs, webhooks, data mapping, and integration

troubleshooting. You don’t need to be a developer, but you should be able to work

confidently with one.

● Experience managing complex catalogs with a high number of SKUs and maintaining

accurate data across systems.

● Fluency with ecommerce analytics and tracking tools, including Google Analytics 4 and

Shopify reporting; tag management and attribution experience is a plus.

● Experience with an email platform such as Klaviyo or Mailchimp, particularly

segmentation, automated flows, and ecommerce triggers.

● Experience with technical and on-page ecommerce SEO, including site structure,

product and collection optimization, redirects, structured data, indexing, and Google

Search Console.

● Experience managing Google Ads for ecommerce, including campaign setup, budget

pacing, conversion tracking, and performance optimization.

● Familiarity with Google Merchant Center and product feeds, including diagnosing listing

disapprovals and keeping product data accurate across Shopify and Google.

● Ability to develop test plans, validate releases, diagnose errors, and distinguish a

platform issue from a process or data issue.

● Experience managing technical vendors, development priorities, timelines, and budgets.

How you work

You take ownership. You prioritize well, keep projects moving without needing close supervision, and notice where a process is going to break before it scales. You’re equally comfortable thinking about a six-month systems roadmap and jumping into Shopify because something isn't working correctly right now.

You communicate clearly, build strong relationships across departments, and can explain technical decisions to people who aren't technical.

Experience in jewelry isn't required. Experience with complex catalogs, multiple storefronts, or growing consumer brands is especially relevant. Paid advertising platform experience is a plus, though creative direction and broader marketing strategy are handled in partnership with a separate marketing function.

Why East West Gem Co.

If you love the complexity and problem-solving of ecommerce and technology but are ready for an environment that feels more creative, personal, and human, you may feel very at home here.

We are a female-founded and led company with all-female teams, beautiful in-person offices in both Charleston and New York, and a dog-friendly workplace. We believe exceptional work and a genuinely enjoyable place to work can coexist. Our benefits reflect that too, including health, dental, and vision coverage with 75% of premiums paid by the company; HSA style pre-tax account; vacation starting at 13 days annually; paid sick leave; eight paid holidays, including your birthday; and six paid reproductive health and wellness days. After one year, eligible employees can access eight weeks of paid parental leave and a retirement plan with a 4% employer match. We also offer a 50% employee discount on East West Gem Co. and Created Rings jewelry after three months, plus 25% off for friends and family.

This isn't a role where you'll disappear into a giant technology organization. You'll sit close to the brands, the products, the customers, and the people making decisions, and you'll be able to see the impact of the systems you build.

Our Story

Everly Rings, East West Gem Co. and Created Rings were all founded around a simple idea: jewelry without limits.

We believe great jewelry should begin with aesthetics, personal style, and the person wearing it, not a predetermined hierarchy of what stones or materials are supposed to be valuable. From the beginning, we've approached jewelry differently: exploring the potential of different stones, cuts, proportions, settings, and materials and designing around what makes each one look its absolute best.

Our work is style-first, design-led, and intentionally open-minded. We aren't interested in telling someone what an engagement ring, wedding band, or piece of fine jewelry should look like. We're interested in creating something extraordinary for the person who will actually wear it.

Our jewelry is handcrafted in the United States by skilled artisans, and our close relationships with our production partners allow us to obsess over the details: from stone selection and proportions to setting, wearability, and finish.

We're looking for someone who is excited not only by the technical challenge of building better Ecommerce systems, but by what those systems enable: helping three distinct jewelry brands grow, evolve, and continue challenging the conventions of an industry that has historically had far too many rules.
