Reporting to the Chief Content Officer and Director of Communications, the selected candidate will conceptualize and produce visually compelling video content for use across platforms in support of communications, marketing, fundraising, enrollment, and other initiatives. They will be a natural storyteller, strategist, writer, and video producer with a demonstrated passion for identifying stories and producing content that elicits a positive emotional response, inspires action, and communicates impact.
The Communications Broadcast and Multimedia Production Manager will produce everything from news and feature pieces to long- and short-form videos, including promotional content for the web and social media. They will produce platform-specific content for social media channels to strategically engage current and prospective students and other external audiences.
The Communications Broadcast and Multimedia Production Manager will have experience with all aspects of video production, from concept to completion, including storyboarding, scripting, directing, interviewing, videography, photography, audio, lighting, and post-production. They will possess an ability to interview subjects, scout locations, and produce integrated packages that bring together video, graphic and web design, photography, and the written word for use on a variety of platforms. Additionally, they will be creative, innovative, resourceful, and possess an excitement for developing and pursuing new ideas, angles, and stories in support of strategic initiatives.
This role requires a strong conceptual thinker and writer with excellent project management skills and an ability to execute a high volume of content within tight and often evolving deadlines. The position necessitates a high level of flexibility and coordination with diverse constituents as well as a commitment to meeting the varied and complex needs that exist within an institution of higher education. In addition to the duties in the CUNY Title Overview, responsibilities will include:
- Provide creative vision and execution of all video shoots, capturing key messages and using the latest tactics and techniques to enhance visual storytelling
- Lead brainstorming sessions and collaborate with various academic and administrative departments on the pre-production, production, and post-production phases of individualized projects
- Draft new and up-to-date production ideas for submission to stakeholders, while ensuring all needs and requirements are met
- Produce short, quick turnaround videos that stand alone, are used for social media, or are part of multimedia packages that highlight student, faculty, alumni, donors, or programmatic excellence
- Research new video production trends and procedures and ensure the department is up to date with industry standards and tactics to appeal to key audiences
- Identify and interview high-profile subjects, scout locations, and produce integrated packages that bring together video, graphic and web design, photography, and the written word.
- Work alongside Communications Director to promote and advance a culture of care as well as the College’s commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion and belonging
- Oversee all aspects of video pre-production processes including consultation with internal partners/stakeholders/talent; development of project outlines and shooting scripts; creation of shot lists and storyboards; location scouting and selection; talent casting; creation of production schedules; preparation of gear requirements;
- Manage video, audio, and lighting equipment setup and operation; direct and lead on-location shoots; conduct interviews and ensure valuable sound bites are captured; capture still shots; and capture b-roll
- Manage all aspects of post-production activity, including video and sound editing, to ensure captured video tells a powerful visual story that elicits a positive emotional response, inspires action, and communicates impact
- Prepare video for multimedia formats including the web, social media, text, email, and other digital distribution mediums
- Stay current with video trends and emerging technologies to improve content development, creation, and dissemination
- Produce and edit promotional/creative video content for use on all platforms when needed
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree and six years' related experience required.
Preferred Qualifications
Proficiency with Apple iPhone, Sony camera equipment, and Pocket Gimbal Cameras.
Knowledge of Adobe Creative Cloud, particularly Adobe Premiere and Adobe After Effects.
Experience shooting, editing, and producing short-form video content for social media, digital platforms, or marketing campaigns.

- Develops and produces broadcast programs, independently or with students, internal College departments, or external entities

Compensation And Benefits
Salary Range: $98,231 – $109,519
Salary commensurate with education and experience.
