Reports To: Head of Operations / Founder

Pay: 18,000-26,000 USD

Role Summary:

We are seeking an Ecommerce Operations Manager to own the technical stability, day-to-day site administration, and fulfillment workflows across our portfolio of 4+ direct-to-consumer Shopify storefronts (covering both Shopify Plus and standard plans).

A major near-term priority for this role will be spearheading our migration across stores to Shopify Online Store 2.0 (OS 2.0). You will serve as the internal bridge between our commercial brand managers and our external development agency (Praella). You will ensure that stores run reliably, orders flow smoothly to fulfillment, apps and sales channels are configured properly, and new site features or product launches go live without disruptions. You will handle store administration, template builds, OS 2.0 architecture, and initial troubleshooting internally, reserving our development agency for advanced Liquid coding and custom technical builds.

What You Will Own:

1. Online Store 2.0 Migration and Architecture

  • Lead the operational transition of our storefronts to Shopify Online Store 2.0, working alongside our development agency to plan, configure, and audit the migration.
  • Establish a modular store architecture using JSON templates, sections, and app blocks across all stores so brand managers can build landing pages and update PDPs without writing code.
  • Define and maintain custom metafield and metaobject structures to standardize content display, product specifications, and variant details across all brand catalogs.

2. Store Operations and Merchandising Execution

  • Set up new products, variants, pricing, SKU mappings, and inventory tracking across all stores.
  • Build and update landing pages and Product Detail Pages (PDPs) using native OS 2.0 sections, blocks, and page-builder tools.
  • Configure native store settings, including shipping zones, flat and dynamic rates, shipping profiles, and payment gateways (such as PayPal, Apple Pay, and Shop Pay).
  • Connect and maintain marketplace and social sales channels (such as TikTok Shop and Amazon) through official Shopify integrations.

3. Site Health, QA, and Launch Monitoring

  • Serve as the immediate internal first responder to investigate, diagnose, and resolve storefront bugs, broken links, layout errors, and cart friction.
  • Monitor traffic, conversion rates, and checkout funnels in real time during promotional drops and feature rollouts to verify everything functions properly.
  • Run quality assurance (QA) and User Acceptance Testing (UAT) in staging environments before changes or theme updates are pushed live.

4. App Stack and Performance Governance

  • Source, test, configure, and audit third-party apps and widgets (reviews, subscriptions, search, page builders) to ensure stability.
  • Conduct regular audits to sunset redundant apps, replace legacy plugins with native OS 2.0 app blocks, and protect site loading speed.

5. Order Routing and Fulfillment Pipeline

  • Monitor the end-to-end data pipeline between Shopify, our shipping platform (e.g., ShipWorks), and downstream warehouses.
  • Quickly troubleshoot sync errors, inventory mismatches, tracking write-back issues, and webhook drops to ensure orders process on time.

6. External Agency Management

  • Act as the primary internal contact for our external development agency.
  • Translate merchandising and operational needs into clear, structured development tickets with acceptance criteria.
  • Triage issues before escalating to the agency, ensuring paid developer retainer hours are spent strictly on complex Liquid code, custom functionality, and API builds rather than routine administrative tasks.

What We Are Looking For:

  • 3 to 5+ years of hands-on Shopify store management or ecommerce operations experience, ideally across multiple storefronts (including Shopify Plus).
  • Direct, proven experience managing or executing migrations to Shopify Online Store 2.0, with a deep understanding of JSON templates, sections everywhere, app blocks, and native metafields/metaobjects.
  • Direct experience configuring shipping rules, payment gateways, third-party apps, and multi-channel connectors (Amazon, TikTok Shop).
  • Working experience monitoring order pipelines into shipping and fulfillment software (e.g., ShipWorks, ShipStation).
  • Solid technical troubleshooting skills: comfortable using browser developer tools to inspect elements, review console errors, and read basic HTML/CSS.
  • Proven track record managing external development agency tickets, running QA, and protecting developer sprint capacity.
  • High attention to detail with the ability to manage competing priorities across multiple distinct brands.
