Sr Advanced Software Engineer

As a Sr Advanced Software Engineer here at Honeywell Aerospace, you will play a critical role in creating advanced systems within our TCAS (Traffic Alert and Collision Avoidance System) and Transponder Product Team to meet the long-term evolving needs of the Aviation industry. Your advanced software development skills will be leveraged to design, develop, and enhance cutting-edge avionics and electronic solutions. You will play a key role in delivering innovative software that supports the safety, efficiency, and performance of aircraft systems.

You will report directly to our Director of Engineering, working out of Phoenix, AZ location on a Hybrid work schedule.

• New hires are expected to report 100% onsite M-F for the first 90 days of employment.

In this role, you will impact the development and delivery of cutting-edge software solutions that support Honeywell’s aerospace initiatives, helping to drive innovation and maintain our leadership in the industry.

• Design, develop, and maintain advanced software applications for avionics and electronic systems
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define software requirements and system architecture.
• Ensure software compliance with aerospace industry standards and regulations
• Conduct code reviews, testing, and debugging to deliver robust and reliable software
• Troubleshoot and resolve complex software bugs and defects.
• Work with engineering teams to help release design and documentation.
• Mentor junior engineers and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.

YOU MUST HAVE

• Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution in a technical discipline such as the SW Engineering, sciences, technology, or mathematics
• 9+ years of experience in advanced software development, preferably in aerospace or related industries.

WE VALUE

• Experience in similar product domains is of value i.e. Avionics, Navigation and/or Airborne Surveillance (TCAS, Transponder, ADS-B, DME, UAT).
• Bachelor’s degree or higher in Computer Science or related field.
• Familiarity with aerospace software standards such as DO-178C and experience with debugging and testing embedded software.
• Experience with avionics software development and integration
• Experience with version control systems and software testing methodologies.
• Individuals that quickly analyze, incorporate and apply new information and concepts.
• Multi-tasking and ability to adapt dictated by project changes.
• Experience with software development tools, version control systems, and continuous integration/deployment pipelines.
• Ability to manage project risks and implement mitigation strategies effectively.
• Strong analytical skills and attention to detail in design and testing processes.
• Knowledge of real-time operating systems, embedded software design, and aerospace industry standards.
• Experience with Agile development methodologies and continuous integration/continuous deployment (CI/CD) pipelines
• Ability to work effectively in a team environment and eagerness to learn new technologies.
• Proficiency in programming languages such as C++, C and understanding of software development lifecycle.
