Backend Engineer (Remote, Japan) | Build Systems That Handle Real Scale-established B2C platform with millions of users

We're hiring a Backend Engineer to help build and evolve one of Japan's largest consumer-facing digital platforms. Every feature you develop, every optimization you make, and every architectural decision you contribute to impacts millions of users every day.

What You'll Be Working On

• Design and develop backend services in Java, Go, Python, or Kotlin (use the language you're strongest in)
• Build reliable APIs and distributed systems that scale with growing demand
• Own projects from design through deployment and production improvements
• Improve performance, resilience, and developer experience across the platform
• Work closely with product managers, designers, and fellow engineers to ship meaningful features
• Influence technical decisions—not just implement someone else's roadmap

What We're Looking For

• 3+ years of professional backend development experience
• Strong skills in Java, Go, Python, or Kotlin
• Experience working with SQL and/or NoSQL databases
• Understanding of software design, testing, and scalable backend architecture
• Comfortable working in a collaborative, agile engineering environment
• Business Japanese needed

Nice to HaveExperience with any of the following is a plus, but not required:

• Microservices architecture
• Spring Boot / JPA
• GraphQL or gRPC
• Domain-Driven Design (DDD)
• Kubernetes, Docker, CI/CD, or cloud infrastructure
