Senior Platform Engineer

About the Role: Liminal Custody is seeking a Senior Platform Engineer to design, build, and operate highly scalable, secure, and automated infrastructure platforms that support enterprise-grade digital asset custody services. This role requires deep expertise in cloud automation, infrastructure as code, orchestration, and platform architecture, with the ability to independently drive complex engineering initiatives.

The ideal candidate is a self-starter with strong ownership, capable of architecting and implementing robust platform solutions with minimal supervision while maintaining high standards for reliability, security, and performance

Responsibilities

Platform Engineering & Architecture

• Design and architect scalable, resilient, and secure platform infrastructure supporting enterprise-grade applications.
• Develop and maintain cloud-native platforms primarily on AWS, while ensuring compatibility across other cloud or hybrid environments where required.
• Lead architectural decisions for platform services, distributed systems, and infrastructure design.
• Implement high-availability, fault-tolerant infrastructure for mission-critical systems.

Automation & Orchestration

• Build and maintain automation frameworks for infrastructure provisioning, deployment, and operations.
• Implement orchestration pipelines to manage infrastructure lifecycle and application delivery.
• Drive the adoption of fully automated infrastructure environments to reduce operational overhead.

Infrastructure as Code & Development

• Develop infrastructure using Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) practices (Terraform, CloudFormation, or similar).
• Write high-quality automation and platform code using languages such as Python, Go, or similar.
• Maintain reusable infrastructure modules, libraries, and internal platform tooling.

DevOps & Platform Reliability

• Build and improve CI/CD pipelines and release orchestration workflows.
• Implement observability, monitoring, and alerting frameworks for infrastructure and services.
• Ensure platforms meet security, compliance, and operational reliability standards.

Collaboration & Technical Leadership

• Partner with product, engineering, and security teams to design platform capabilities that support business needs.
• Provide technical leadership and guidance on platform architecture and infrastructure best practices.
• Mentor engineers on automation, cloud-native architecture, and infrastructure design

Desired Candidate Profile

• 7+ years of experience in platform engineering, cloud infrastructure, or DevOps roles.
• Strong hands-on experience with AWS cloud services and architecture.
• Proven expertise in automation and orchestration of infrastructure and platforms.
• Deep experience with Infrastructure-as-Code (Terraform, CloudFormation, or equivalent).
• Strong programming or scripting skills in Python, Go, or similar languages.
• Demonstrated experience designing and architecting enterprise-scale applications and distributed systems.
• Strong understanding of cloud-native architectures, microservices, and containerized environments.
• Experience implementing secure, highly available production environments.
• Ability to work independently and drive initiatives with minimal supervision.

Good To Have

• Experience with Blockchain, Web3 infrastructure, or digital asset platforms.
• Familiarity with Kubernetes and container orchestration platforms.
• Exposure to multi-cloud environments.
• Experience building internal developer platforms or platform engineering frameworks.
• Understanding of security principles in financial or digital asset environments.
