Assignment Description

Onsite Requirements

The consultant is expected to work onsite in Södertälje on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Fridays. Depending on project needs, onsite presence may increase to up to five days per week. Candidates must be comfortable with regular work from Södertälje.

Assignment Overview

We are looking for a senior Linux Infrastructure Engineer with extensive experience in Linux administration, platform engineering, automation, and infrastructure architecture. The consultant will be responsible for developing and maintaining a high-performance Remote Desktop Infrastructure (VDI) that supports GPU-accelerated engineering workloads, including simulation, visualization, rendering, and other HPC-related activities. The environment is primarily based on Rocky Linux / RHEL and includes technologies such as NICE DCV, EnginFrame, SLURM, X11, and Xfce.

Responsibilities

Design, implement, and maintain Linux-based GPU-enabled remote desktop platforms. Develop and enhance automation solutions using Infrastructure-as-Code principles. Ensure platform scalability, performance, security, and operational stability. Work closely with Infrastructure and HPC teams on architecture and operational improvements. Create and maintain technical documentation, deployment procedures, and operational guidelines. Drive continuous improvements within the platform and infrastructure landscape.

Required Skills & Experience

Extensive experience as a Linux System Administrator within enterprise environments. Strong expertise in Rocky Linux, Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL), or similar Linux distributions. Hands-on experience with Infrastructure-as-Code and automation tools, preferably Ansible. Solid scripting skills in Bash. Python experience is considered an advantage. Experience with Git-based development workflows and CI/CD pipelines. Good understanding of Linux desktop environments, X11, and remote graphics/display technologies. Strong knowledge of networking, security, and monitoring solutions. Experience with observability and monitoring platforms, preferably Prometheus-based solutions. Proven ability to design scalable, maintainable, and robust infrastructure solutions. Comfortable working independently and taking ownership of complex technical environments.

Meritorious Experience

Experience working in High Performance Computing (HPC) environments. Knowledge of SLURM workload management. Experience with NICE DCV, EnginFrame, Open OnDemand, or similar remote visualization platforms. Experience with container technologies such as Docker and Podman. Additional experience within monitoring and observability tooling.
