DevOps Engineer

DevOps with AWS & Backend Experience

Location: South San Francisco, CA / Hybrid

Job Overview

We are seeking a hands-on DevOps Engineer with strong AWS and backend development experience. The ideal candidate will have expertise in AWS cloud services, infrastructure automation, CI/CD, Python-based backend development, FastAPI, and database technologies. This role will work closely with engineering teams to build, deploy, and operate scalable, secure, and reliable cloud-native applications.

Key Responsibilities

Design, build, and maintain AWS cloud infrastructure and services, including ECS, Lambda, networking, and related components.

Develop and maintain infrastructure using AWS CDK and infrastructure automation best practices.

Build and manage CI/CD pipelines to support automated application builds, testing, and deployments.

Work closely with backend engineering teams to deploy, monitor, and operate Python and FastAPI applications.

Design and support cloud-native, containerized, and serverless application architectures.

Manage AWS networking, security, access controls, and connectivity across cloud environments.

Support and optimize database solutions, including vector and relational databases.

Monitor application and infrastructure performance, troubleshoot production issues, and improve reliability and scalability.

Implement DevOps best practices for automation, observability, security, and operational excellence.

Collaborate with cross-functional teams to improve deployment processes and overall engineering productivity.

Required Qualifications

5+ years of experience in DevOps, Cloud Engineering, Platform Engineering, or a similar role.

Strong hands-on experience with AWS, including ECS, Lambda, networking, and other core AWS services.

Hands-on experience with AWS CDK and Infrastructure as Code concepts.

Strong backend development experience using Python.

Experience building or supporting APIs and backend services using FastAPI or similar frameworks.

Experience with relational and/or vector databases.

Strong understanding of CI/CD pipelines and deployment automation.

Experience working in Linux/Unix environments.

Strong troubleshooting, problem-solving, and communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience with Docker and Kubernetes.

Experience with Terraform, CloudFormation, or other Infrastructure as Code tools.

Knowledge of microservices and distributed system architecture.

Experience with monitoring and observability tools.

Understanding of cloud security and DevSecOps practices.

AWS or other relevant cloud certifications.
