Company Description 6thSense is building the sensory layer that enables physical AI, giving machines the ability to feel and act in the real world rather than relying on vision alone. The company addresses a key bottleneck in robot manipulation models: the lack of touch, force, and slip data in traditional vision-only training sets. By capturing synchronized vision and tactile data from real human work using low-cost tactile gloves and egocentric cameras, 6thSense turns everyday manual tasks into high-fidelity demonstrations for training and evaluating manipulation models. Role Description As an AWS and Firmware Engineer at 6thSense, you will design, implement, and maintain the cloud infrastructure and embedded systems that power our tactile sensing platform. In this full-time, on-site role based in Korea, you will develop firmware for tactile devices, optimize data capture pipelines, and ensure reliable communication between hardware and cloud services. You will configure and manage AWS resources to handle large-scale collection, storage, and processing of synchronized vision and touch data, focusing on scalability, security, and performance. Day-to-day responsibilities include collaborating with hardware, ML, and data teams to define system requirements, integrating sensors and microcontrollers, implementing APIs and data streaming services, and troubleshooting issues across the full stack from device firmware to cloud deployment. You will also contribute to testing, documentation, and continuous improvement of our data collection infrastructure to support advanced manipulation models.

Qualifications

• Embedded and firmware development skills, including experience with microcontrollers, real-time systems, sensor integration, and low-level programming (e.g., C/C++, RTOS).
• AWS and cloud engineering skills, such as designing and managing services like EC2, S3, Lambda, IoT Core, and data pipelines for high-throughput, reliable data processing.
• Software engineering skills in Python or similar languages, including development of APIs, data streaming services, and integration between hardware and cloud platforms.
• System design and infrastructure skills, including experience with networking, security best practices, performance optimization, monitoring logging tools.
• Strong problem-solving and debugging abilities across hardware, firmware, and cloud layers, with comfort working in fast-paced, experimental environments.
• Bachelor’s degree or higher in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
• Experience with robotics, tactile sensing, IoT devices, or real-world data collection systems is highly beneficial.
