We are looking for an AI Ops Engineer to join our Technology – AI Centre of Excellence team. What will you do as an AI Ops Engineer? 

Reporting to the Head of AI Development, AI CoE, your accountabilities will include:

• Design, build and secure cloud infrastructure for AI workloads using Terraform across AWS environments, ensuring robust identity, networking and change management practices.
• Own enterprise AI observability, including execution tracing, model performance monitoring, cost attribution and cross-workflow visibility across multiple AI providers.
• Design and operate governed deployment pipelines for AI and agentic workflows, incorporating automated controls, approval gates and governance checkpoints.
• Define and maintain production-readiness standards, SLOs/SLIs, alerting frameworks and incident response processes for AI services.
• Apply and enforce security, Responsible AI and cost-governance controls while enabling scalable, production-grade AI infrastructure and tooling across the organisation.

What makes you the ideal candidate for this role?

An ideal candidate has the following qualities:

Essential:

• Demonstrates deep expertise in AWS cloud services, infrastructure-as-code with Terraform, and the design and operation of production-grade cloud environments.
• Exhibits strong knowledge of generative AI systems, retrieval-augmented generation (RAG), vector databases, AI observability and operational governance.
• Demonstrates substantial hands-on experience running generative AI or agentic solutions in production, with accountability for reliability, security and cost optimisation.
• Shows advanced proficiency in Python, Linux and automation, with a strong software engineering approach to maintainable and reusable code.
• Displays the ability to lead incident response, enforce engineering standards through automation, and influence delivery teams through technical expertise and published standards.

Desirable:

• Shows ability to apply AWS professional or specialty certifications and experience with Amazon Bedrock in production environments.
• Demonstrates experience with LLM observability platforms, vector databases, enterprise workflow tooling, or AI evaluation and testing frameworks.
• Displays initiative in establishing SRE, platform, or AI operations practices and working within regulated, education, assessment, or publishing environments.
