Software Engineering Trainee (Fully Onsite Ikeja/Ogba)

We are looking for motivated and curious Software Engineering Trainee who is interested in building practical software engineering skills while contributing to real-world projects.

As a Software Engineering Trainee/Intern, you will work alongside experienced engineers to design, develop, test, deploy, and maintain software applications. You will receive mentorship, participate in technical discussions and code reviews, and gain hands-on experience with modern software development practices and tools.

This role is suitable for students, recent graduates, or early-career individuals who have a foundation in programming and are eager to grow into professional software engineers.

You will:

• Assist in designing, developing, testing, and maintaining software applications and services.
• Write clean, readable, maintainable, and well-documented code.
• Work on frontend, backend, mobile, API, database, or other engineering tasks depending on project requirements.
• Debug software issues and assist in identifying and resolving defects.
• Develop and consume REST APIs and integrate applications with internal or third-party services.
• Work with databases and assist with data modelling, queries, and application data management.
• Write unit, integration, and other automated tests where applicable.
• Use Git and collaborative development workflows for source-code management.
• Participate in code reviews and incorporate feedback from senior engineers.
• Participate in technical discussions, sprint planning, stand-ups, retrospectives, and other engineering activities.
• Assist with application deployment, monitoring, documentation, and maintenance.
• Research technologies and propose solutions to assigned technical problems.
• Follow established software engineering, security, testing, and documentation standards.
• Continuously learn new technologies, frameworks, tools, and engineering practices.

• Currently pursuing or recently completed a degree, diploma, bootcamp, or equivalent training in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, Computer Engineering, or a related discipline.
• Basic understanding of programming concepts, data structures, algorithms, and object-oriented or functional programming.
• Familiarity with at least one programming language such as JavaScript/TypeScript, Python, Java, C#, PHP, Go, C/C++, or similar.
• Basic understanding of databases and SQL.
• Familiarity with Git or another version-control system.
• Basic understanding of web technologies, APIs, or software application architecture.
• Ability to learn quickly and apply feedback.
• Good analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Good written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively within a team.

Candidates do not need to meet all of these requirements, but exposure to any of the following will be beneficial:

• React, Angular, Vue, Next.js, or other frontend frameworks.
• Node.js, Django, FastAPI, Spring Boot, .NET, Laravel, or similar backend technologies.
• PostgreSQL, MySQL, SQL Server, MongoDB, or other databases.
• RESTful API development and integration.
• Cloud platforms such as AWS, Microsoft Azure, or Google Cloud.
• Docker and containerisation.
• CI/CD concepts and tools.
• Linux and command-line environments.
