SQL Database Administrator

Overview

We are seeking an experienced SQL Database Administrator to support critical production database environments and enterprise data solutions. This role will focus on SQL Server administration, Azure SQL, database performance and availability, data migration, and database design. The DBA will work closely with developers, business stakeholders, vendors, and other technical teams to maintain reliable, secure, and high-performing database environments.

Duties

• Administer, monitor, troubleshoot, and optimize SQL Server and Azure SQL databases supporting critical production systems.

• Perform database health checks and recommend improvements to performance, availability, and reliability.

• Plan and execute SQL Server database migrations and upgrades, including migrations from on-premises environments to Azure.

• Deploy, configure, secure, back up, and maintain Azure SQL database solutions.

• Support data migrations by extracting, cleansing, transforming, loading, and validating data.

• Design and maintain logical and physical database models, tables, relationships, and database structures.

• Deploy and maintain database schema changes across development, test, and production environments.

• Support data warehouses, data marts, and Power BI environments in collaboration with other technical teams.

• Collaborate with developers, business stakeholders, and vendors to determine database requirements and appropriate configurations.

• Coordinate database backup and restore activities and assist with software releases and technical issue resolution.

• Follow established database standards while identifying opportunities for process and performance improvements.

• Track issues, risks, action items, and work activities while providing timely status updates.

Required Skills

• 7+ years of SQL Server Database Administration experience.

• 4+ years of experience administering databases in production environments.

• 3+ years of data analytics experience.

• 1+ year of Azure Database Administration experience.

• 1+ year of data warehouse experience.

• Strong knowledge of database administration, security, performance monitoring, backup/recovery, and troubleshooting.

• Experience with database design, data structures, and data migration processes.

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

• Strong customer service skills and the ability to work effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders.

• Ability to work independently, manage priorities, and resolve technical issues with limited supervision.

Preferred Skills

• Power BI administration experience.

• Experience with Microsoft SQL Server High Availability/Always On.

• Business systems analysis and design experience.

• Experience integrating Azure SQL with other Azure services.

• Experience supporting migrations from on-premises SQL Server to Azure.
