The Payment Processor POC oversees day-to-day payment-processing support and serves as the primary point of contact for payment incidents, processor integrations, POS/payment-device issues, testing, and vendor coordination. The POC is responsible for ensuring issues are promptly identified, accurately documented, appropriately escalated, and driven through resolution, while maintaining clear communication with all impacted stakeholders.

Required Skills & Experience:

  • Technical troubleshooting and analysis, including reading error messages, correlating timestamps, reviewing logs and transaction details, identifying patterns, isolating probable causes, and gathering evidence for escalation.
  • Strong communication skills, including preparing clear written updates, concise incident summaries, facilitating meetings, communicating appropriately with different audiences, and providing timely follow-up.
  • Incident and ticket management, including prioritizing competing incidents, maintaining accurate ticket documentation, tracking open items, documenting decisions, meeting deadlines, and following issues through resolution.
  • Issue ownership, taking responsibility for an issue from the initial report through verified resolution.
  • Follow-through and escalation, consistently tracking action items, documenting decisions and actions, and escalating issues appropriately when needed.
  • Organization and multitasking, with the ability to manage multiple simultaneous incidents, vendor requests, and competing priorities.
  • Professionalism under pressure, remaining calm, organized, and professional during service disruptions or high-priority incidents.
  • Microsoft Office and collaboration tools, including Microsoft Teams, Outlook, Excel, SharePoint, and other documentation and collaboration platforms.

Preferred Skills:

  • Payment platform experience, preferably supporting payment gateways or retail payment-processing platforms.
  • Industry experience with a payment processor, acquirer, merchant-services provider, financial institution, retailer, or POS provider.
  • Payment security knowledge, including PCI DSS, EMV, tokenization, point-to-point encryption (P2PE), card-network requirements, and payment-data security.
  • Payment testing and integration experience, including processor certification, payment-device deployment, POS/payment integration changes, and related testing activities.
  • Technical integration knowledge, including APIs, JSON/XML, web services, TLS certificates, basic networking, and application logs.
  • Reporting and monitoring tools, with familiarity with SQL, Power BI, Tableau, Splunk, Datadog, Dynatrace, or similar tools.
  • PCI-related certification, such as the PCI Professional (PCIP) qualification, is a plus.
