Overview

Our client is seeking a Senior Platform Software Engineer to build backend services, APIs, internal tooling, and automation that support large-scale infrastructure environments.

This is a software-first role focused on Python, Kubernetes, platform engineering, and infrastructure automation. The ideal candidate has strong development fundamentals and can build production-quality software that improves reliability, scalability, observability, and self-service infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities

• Build backend services, APIs, internal tools, and automation platforms.
• Develop production-quality software using Python or similar backend languages.
• Build tooling across Kubernetes and containerized environments.
• Automate provisioning, configuration, lifecycle management, and operational workflows.
• Support Infrastructure-as-Code using Terraform, Ansible, Jinja2, or similar tools.
• Integrate platform tooling into CI/CD pipelines.
• Build monitoring, observability, and reliability capabilities.
• Troubleshoot issues across software, Kubernetes, infrastructure, and network-adjacent systems.
• Partner with Platform, Infrastructure, Security, and Network teams.
• Reduce manual operations through scalable automation and self-service tooling.

Required Qualifications

• Strong software engineering background building backend services, APIs, internal tools, or automation.
• Strong Python development skills or experience with another modern backend language.
• Hands-on Kubernetes experience.
• Experience with CI/CD, automated testing, version control, and code review.
• Experience building infrastructure or platform automation.
• Familiarity with Terraform, Ansible, Jinja2, or similar technologies.
• Experience integrating systems through APIs or event-driven workflows.
• Working knowledge of TCP/IP, DNS, HTTP, routing, load balancing, and firewalls.
• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.

Preferred Experience

• HPC, AI infrastructure, cloud, data center, or high-availability environments.
• Internal developer platforms or platform engineering tools.
• Network automation involving Cisco, Arista, or Juniper.
• BGP, OSPF, VRF, VLAN, EVPN, or VXLAN exposure.
• Distributed systems, microservices, Kafka, or RabbitMQ.
• Secrets management, policy-as-code, and platform security.

Ideal Candidate

The ideal candidate is a software engineer first with strong Python and Kubernetes experience who enjoys building scalable tooling and automation for complex infrastructure environments.
