Senior DevOps Engineer

Summary

We are looking for an experienced Senior DevOps Engineer to join our Managed Services team, based in India and working aligned to US/UK business hours. This is a senior, hands-on role for someone who wants to help lead the shift from manual Linux operations toward automated, code-reviewed DevOps practices across a large-scale, always-on managed services environment supporting enterprise financial services clients.

Core Responsibilities

• Lead the design and development of Python-based tooling and Ansible/Puppet Enterprise playbooks that automate patching, server builds, and other repeatable operational tasks.
• Help design and implement GitLab CI pipelines that bring version control and peer review to infrastructure changes.
• Own day-to-day RHEL 8 administration across physical and virtualized infrastructure — patch management, performance troubleshooting, and configuration management.
• Administer and maintain monitoring, security, and compliance tooling, including Zabbix, SolarWinds, Nessus, and CimTrak.
• Support system hardening, security updates, and vulnerability remediation across the estate.
• Participate in, and help mature, change management processes for infrastructure changes.
• Participate in an on-call rotation, responding to production incidents and escalations.
• Mentor engineers and help build automation and scripting capability across the team.
• Maintain clear technical documentation, procedures, and operational runbooks.
• Work closely with architects, engineers, and support teams to ensure service reliability and availability.

Skills & Requirements

• 8+ years of experience in Linux administration, DevOps, or infrastructure engineering, ideally in a managed services or enterprise environment.
• Solid Python programming experience — scripting, automation, API integration.
• Hands-on experience with Ansible and/or Puppet (Puppet Enterprise) for configuration management.
• Familiarity with GitLab (or a similar platform) and CI/CD pipeline concepts.
• Comfortable working US business hours from India, including participation in an on-call rotation.
• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
• Clear, proactive communicator across a distributed, cross-time-zone team.

Desired Experience (Not Essential)

• Exposure to enterprise storage platforms such as Dell PowerScale/Isilon.
• Familiarity with monitoring/security tools such as CimTrak, in addition to Zabbix, SolarWinds, and Nessus.
• Strong understanding of networking concepts such as TCP/IP, DNS, SSH, and firewalls.
• Understanding of virtualization technologies such as VMware vSphere.
• Familiarity with LDAP, Kerberos, SSSD, and NFS.
• Understanding of ITIL processes, change management, and incident management.
• Experience working in environments aligned with ISO 27001 or similar security standards.
• RHCSA or an equivalent Red Hat certification.
