Java Software Engineer

We are looking for a Java Software Developer to join our team in Salt Lake City, Utah and help build reliable software for a large-scale logistics and e-commerce environment. This role is ideal for a developer who enjoys creating new capabilities, improving existing applications, and using AI tools as a meaningful part of day-to-day engineering work. You will work closely with technical leaders, analysts, and fellow engineers to deliver scalable services that support complex integrations across global operations.

Responsibilities:

• Design, develop, and support Java-based applications that power logistics and commerce workflows across a high-volume platform.

• Create and enhance services and APIs that connect external partners, internal applications, and carrier-related systems.

• Contribute to both new product development and the improvement of existing software components to increase performance and maintainability.

• Apply AI-assisted development tools to accelerate coding, testing, documentation, and review preparation while validating output for quality and accuracy.

• Partner with architects, senior engineers, and business stakeholders to turn functional needs into practical technical solutions.

• Participate in design discussions, peer reviews, and engineering standards activities to promote clean, dependable code.

• Build and maintain well-tested software within a microservices-based environment using modern Java and Spring practices.

• Support production reliability through on-call participation, troubleshooting, incident response, and follow-up analysis.

Requirements:

• 2+ years of Java development experience in a production environment.

• Hands-on experience with Core Java, Spring Framework, and Spring Boot.

• Ability to build and consume APIs for integration-heavy applications.

• Familiarity with distributed systems or microservices-based application design.

• Demonstrated use of AI tools such as Claude or similar platforms to improve software development workflows.

• Strong understanding of debugging, code quality, testing, and maintainable design principles.

• Effective collaboration and communication skills for working with cross-functional technical and business teams.
