Cloud Platform Engineer/ Hybrid Scottsdale

A financial services organization is currently looking to hire a Senior Cloud Engineer on a contract basis in the Phoenix, AZ area. This role follows a hybrid schedule with three onsite days per week and focuses on AWS cloud infrastructure, platform engineering, security, and operational excellence across mission-critical systems.

The engineer will support a large-scale cloud modernization effort involving the migration of critical applications and data from on-premises environments to AWS. Responsibilities include building and optimizing cloud-native infrastructure, maintaining security and compliance controls, implementing Infrastructure as Code with Terraform, strengthening observability capabilities, supporting disaster recovery initiatives, and troubleshooting complex production issues within highly regulated environments.

Contract Duration: Through End of Year

Required Skills & Experience

• 7+ years of Cloud Engineering or DevOps experience
• 3+ years of hands-on AWS experience
• Strong expertise with AWS services including EC2, EKS, Lambda, RDS, S3, and IAM
• Experience administering Kubernetes environments, particularly EKS
• Strong Linux administration experience
• Hands-on Docker experience
• Experience delivering business-critical production systems
• Experience implementing Infrastructure as Code using Terraform
• Knowledge of CI/CD pipelines and DevOps best practices
• Experience with software development methodologies such as Agile, Scrum, or Lean
• Experience implementing security and compliance controls aligned with PCI-DSS, SOC 2, or FFIEC
• Experience supporting cloud vulnerability management and patching programs
• Experience building and maintaining observability solutions for complex transactional systems
• Strong documentation, communication, and problem-solving skills
• Current AWS or comparable cloud certification
• Ability to participate in a 24/7 on-call rotation
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related technical field, or equivalent experience

Desired Skills & Experience

• Experience with AppDynamics monitoring and alerting
• Experience with container security platforms such as Twistlock or Aqua Security
• Development experience with C#, Ruby, or Python
• Knowledge of ACH/EFT payment processing
• Knowledge of RTP or FedNow payment networks
• Experience within FinTech, banking, or other highly regulated industries
• Degree in Computer Science, Management Information Systems, or a related discipline
