Senior Platform Engineer

Would you like to play a key part in the next evolution of Toca Boca’s technology platform? With over 60 million monthly active users, a massive global footprint, and peaks of about 1,400 requests per second, as a Senior Platform Engineer, you will shape the cloud infrastructure that powers our entire play ecosystem.

At Toca Boca, we don’t lock you into endless, repetitive maintenance silos. Joining our newly established Central Tech platform team, you will enjoy broad, end-to-end ownership. Your mission will be to elevate our cloud strategy, build highly scalable backend platform services, and pave the way for a modern, efficient developer experience across all our game teams.

You will partner with game developers, acting as a force multiplier so they can focus on what they do best: building the best possible games for kids and families worldwide.

What You’ll Be Doing

• Drive the full lifecycle of Central Tech platform services—from greenfield development to optimizing high-throughput backend services handling millions of active players.
• Serve as an internal platform champion. You’ll deeply understand the needs of our game teams, building the tools, frameworks, and infrastructure that make their workflows seamless and efficient.
• Lead the evolution of our cloud environment, promoting best-in-class workflows using Terraform, Docker, and orchestration platforms (ECS, EKS/Kubernetes).
• Define and implement robust monitoring, alerting, and logging strategies (using tools like Datadog) alongside secure AWS practices to guarantee a resilient, top-tier platform.
• Act as a natural knowledge sharer. You'll coach other developers in cloud infrastructure best practices, raising the technical bar for the entire organization.

Is This You?

• Strong professional experience with AWS at scale, ideally powering non-web consumers like mobile apps, APIs, and high-concurrency backend services.
• Deep hands-on experience in an Infrastructure as Code (IaC) environment (Terraform, etc.) and container orchestration (Docker, ECS, Kubernetes/EKS).
• Solid production-level experience with TypeScript for backend development.
• A great understanding of databases, including both Relational and NoSQL database architectures (the larger the data volume, the better!).
• Experience configuring and working with modern observability suites (such as Datadog).
• A natural instinct for knowledge sharing, with a proven track record of coaching junior engineers and helping teams adopt new tools.
• Excellent communication skills, with the ability to translate open-ended, non-technical requirements into robust, elegant technical solutions.

This position is full time and based in our Stockholm office with a hybrid working model. We apply a 6-month probationary period. As we’re an international company, with over 20 nationalities working here, and millions of users all over the world, you must be fluent in English.
