Senior / Staff Java Engineer – Core Infrastructure & SRE (P6-P7)

Our client, a global cryptocurrency exchange, is hiring senior Java engineers for its Core Infrastructure & Site Reliability function.

This isn't a feature-shipping "developer" role. This team owns the stability of the platform's most critical trading systems — the mandate is to move the business from reactive firefighting to proactive risk prevention, at massive scale.

What you'll be doing

You'll identify systemic risks across the platform's core services and lead the infrastructure work to close them — end-to-end performance, reliability, and architecture, not just individual features. You'll drive infrastructure optimization and platform-level solutioning that scales across multiple product lines, and continuously evaluate new tools, patterns, and technologies to strengthen the stability framework long-term. Code review and hands-on engineering leadership are core to the role, not an afterthought.

What we're looking for

• 8+ years of hands-on development and architecture experience, ideally with progression into a senior or staff-level ownership role.
• Strong recent experience in Java (Spring Boot) — Go or C++ background also considered.
• Solid computer science fundamentals and a real understanding of SRE/DevOps principles — this is not a "basic scripting" DevOps ask, it's core to the role.
• Hands-on depth across the modern backend stack: Nginx, Redis, ElasticSearch, Kafka, MySQL, Docker, Kubernetes.
• A track record of designing systems from scratch and rationalizing architecture for new business lines — not just maintaining what already exists.
• JVM troubleshooting/performance optimization experience is a strong plus.
• Fluent in English and Mandarin — this team works closely with cross-functional and international stakeholders.
• Background from major internet/tech platforms (Chinese or global Big Tech) or crypto-native companies is highly relevant.
