AI Automation Engineer

AI Automation Engineer — CI/CD Migration - 6 Month Contract with renewals

Pay: $70 - $80 per hour W-2 Only - Location: Phoenix, AZ / Portland, OR / Cincinnati, OH (remote/local within one of these markets)

CBTS is seeking an AI Engineer to lead the conversion of existing TeamCity CI pipelines to GitHub Actions, while working alongside a three-person DevOps team supporting the broader build/release environment. This role is focused specifically on the migration effort rather than general day-to-day pipeline operations.

Responsibilities

• Assess existing TeamCity CI configurations, build steps, and dependencies
• Design and execute a migration plan converting TeamCity pipelines to GitHub Actions
• Apply AI-assisted tooling/approaches to accelerate pipeline analysis, conversion, and validation where applicable
• Validate converted pipelines for functional parity with existing TeamCity builds
• Partner with the DevOps team to hand off converted pipelines into ongoing GitHub Actions/Octopus Deploy operations
• Document the migration approach, mapping decisions, and any manual conversion steps for future reference
• Identify and flag edge cases or legacy TeamCity configurations that require custom handling

Requirements:

• Proven experience migrating CI/CD platforms, ideally including TeamCity-to-GitHub Actions conversions specifically
• Strong working knowledge of GitHub Actions pipeline authoring and architecture
• Familiarity with TeamCity build configuration concepts (build steps, triggers, dependencies, artifacts)
• Experience applying AI-assisted development or automation tooling to technical migration/conversion work
• Ability to work independently on a scoped technical initiative with clear deliverables

Preferred:

• Experience with Octopus Deploy or other release management tooling (for smoother handoff to the DevOps team)
• Background in build/release engineering broadly, beyond the AI/tooling specialization
• Experience documenting technical migrations for handoff to an operations team
