We’re looking for a Senior AI / MLOps Engineer to design, build and operationalise production-grade AI platforms on Microsoft Azure.

This is a 6-month contract opportunity based in Perth, Western Australia, with a hybrid working split. Due to the requirements of the role, candidates must be based in WA — applicants residing outside Western Australia will not be considered.

This is a hands-on engineering role for someone who enjoys working at the intersection of AI, cloud engineering, DevOps and software automation. You’ll help establish the frameworks and pipelines that enable ML models, LLM applications and AI agents to move safely and reliably from development into production.

What you’ll be doing

• Design and implement reusable CI/CD pipelines for ML models, LLM applications and AI agents on Azure.
• Establish production-grade MLOps and LLMOps frameworks, including experiment tracking, model registries, automated evaluations and release gates.
• Build comprehensive monitoring, logging and tracing using Azure Monitor, Application Insights and Log Analytics.
• Embed DevSecOps practices across the platform, including automated security scanning, Entra ID identity management and Azure Key Vault.
• Deploy and manage RAG and data ingestion pipelines, with robust indexing, versioning and failure monitoring.
• Conduct load, failure and recovery testing to validate platform stability and operational readiness.
• Create reusable pipeline templates, technical documentation and practical guidance to help internal engineering teams adopt and operate the platform.
• Work in a consulting environment, bringing strong engineering practices and knowledge transfer to a range of AI initiatives.

What you’ll bring

• Extensive hands-on experience with Azure AI Foundry, Azure OpenAI and Azure AI Search.
• Advanced Python skills, with strong experience in API integration and software engineering automation.
• Deep expertise in MLOps and LLMOps, including data/model versioning, training, validation and deployment pipelines.
• Proven experience building and operating RAG pipelines and Python-based LLM and AI agent deployments.
• Strong Azure experience across hosting, containers and automated CI/CD release gates.
• Solid understanding of cloud security, including Entra ID, guardrails, content filters and tool permissions.
• Experience creating reusable engineering templates, operational documentation and delivery standards.
• The ability to communicate complex technical concepts clearly and transfer knowledge effectively to engineering teams.
