Senior Elastic Engineer

The team, position & mission:

The Elastic Team is part of Platform department and is responsible for operating and evolving Orange Business' Elastic platform and services. The team delivers solutions for observability, logging, analytics, search, and security monitoring, supporting both customer and internal business-critical services.

Today, the platform primarily consists of Linux-based Elastic clusters, and the team is driving the transition towards Kubernetes-based Elastic deployments for new customer environments. By combining operational excellence, automation, and platform engineering, the team continuously improves service quality, scalability, and customer experience.

The team works closely with customer delivery teams, architects, security specialists, and other platform teams, contributing both operational expertise and technical guidance throughout the service lifecycle.

As a Senior Elastic Engineer, you will be responsible for operating, maintaining, and enhancing Orange Business' Elastic services. You will play a key role in ensuring platform stability, security, performance, and continuous improvement while helping drive the evolution of our Elastic offerings.

The role combines hands-on operations with platform engineering and service development. You will contribute to automation initiatives, modernization efforts, and the ongoing transition towards Kubernetes-based Elastic services (ECK). The position also involves working closely with internal stakeholders and customers, providing technical expertise in both operational and pre-sales activities.

We are looking for someone who enjoys solving complex technical challenges, improving platforms and processes, and contributing to the future direction of our Elastic services.

Your key areas of responsibility as Senior Elastic Engineer:

• Operate, maintain, and continuously improve large-scale Elastic environments, ensuring high availability, performance, security, resilience, and reliability.
• Own platform lifecycle activities, including upgrades, patching, migrations, modernization, and capacity planning.
• Troubleshoot complex technical issues, participate in incident and problem management, perform root cause analysis, and implement preventive improvements.
• Develop automation to improve scalability, operational efficiency, and platform reliability.
• Work hands-on with technologies such as Elasticsearch, Kibana, Elastic Agent, Fleet, Logstash, APM, and SIEM.
• Support customers with technical expertise, troubleshooting, performance tuning, and solution guidance.
• Contribute to the transition towards Kubernetes-based Elastic services, including the design, implementation, and operation of Elastic Cloud on Kubernetes (ECK).
• Collaborate with customers, architects, platform engineers, and security specialists to develop and improve services.
• Contribute to pre-sales activities through technical consultations, solution design, customer presentations, and effort estimation.
• Help shape the development, strategy, and future roadmap of Elastic services.

As an ideal candidate you have experience with:

• Operating and administering Elasticsearch in production environments
• Working in Linux-based production environments
• Distributed systems and large-scale infrastructure
• Performance tuning, troubleshooting, and capacity planning
• One or more of these areas: Monitoring, observability, APM, and log management platforms.
• Containers, Kubernetes, or cloud-native technologies
• Scripting and automation using tools such as Python, Bash, Terraform, or Ansible
• Customer-facing consulting or pre-sales activities
• Willingness and eligibility to obtain UAK (Utvidet adgangsklarering) in accordance with the Norwegian Security Act
