Job Summary

The ideal candidate will have strong hands-on experience designing, developing, and maintaining scalable enterprise applications using Java, Spring Boot, JavaScript, TypeScript, HTML5, CSS3, React, and/or Angular.

The successful candidate will work across the full software development lifecycle, collaborating with product owners, architects, business analysts, QA engineers, and other technology teams to deliver secure, scalable, high-performance applications aligned with enterprise standards and business requirements.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, test, deploy, and maintain enterprise-grade full-stack applications using Java and modern front-end technologies.
• Develop robust and scalable backend services using Java, Spring Boot, Spring MVC, Spring Security, and RESTful APIs.
• Build responsive and reusable user interfaces using React and/or Angular, TypeScript, JavaScript, HTML5, and CSS3.
• Develop reusable UI components, services, modules, and front-end architectures following industry best practices.
• Design and implement secure, scalable REST APIs and microservices for integration with internal and external systems.
• Participate in application architecture and technical design discussions.
• Translate business and functional requirements into high-quality technical solutions.
• Work closely with UX/UI designers and business stakeholders to deliver intuitive and responsive applications.
• Implement application security practices, including authentication, authorization, encryption, and secure API development.
• Develop unit, integration, and automated tests to ensure application quality and reliability.
• Troubleshoot complex production issues and perform root-cause analysis.
• Optimize application performance, scalability, reliability, and maintainability.
• Participate in Agile/Scrum ceremonies, sprint planning, backlog refinement, daily stand-ups, and retrospectives.
• Conduct code reviews and provide technical guidance and mentoring to junior and mid-level developers.
• Collaborate with DevOps teams to support CI/CD pipelines, automated deployments, and application monitoring.
• Follow JPMC enterprise development standards, coding guidelines, security policies, and SDLC processes.
• Work effectively in a large-scale financial services environment with multiple technology and business stakeholders.

Required Technical Skills

Backend Development

• Strong hands-on experience with Java 8/11/17+
• Spring Boot, Spring MVC, Spring Security
• RESTful Web Services and API development
• Microservices architecture
• Java/J2EE development
• Experience with multithreading, collections, exception handling, and Java design patterns
• Strong understanding of object-oriented programming and software design principles

Front-End Development

• Strong experience with JavaScript and TypeScript
• Hands-on experience with React and/or Angular
• Strong knowledge of HTML5 and CSS3
• Responsive web application development
• React Hooks, state management, reusable components, and modern front-end architecture
• Angular components, services, modules, routing, RxJS, and reactive programming
• Experience consuming REST APIs from front-end applications
• Strong understanding of browser technologies and web application performance

Database & Data Technologies

• Strong SQL skills
• Experience with Oracle, PostgreSQL, MySQL, or similar relational databases
• Database design, queries, stored procedures, indexing, and performance tuning
• Experience with ORM frameworks such as Hibernate/JPA

Cloud & DevOps

• Experience with AWS, Azure, or GCP
• CI/CD tools such as Jenkins, GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, or Azure DevOps
• Strong experience with Git
• Docker and containerization
• Kubernetes/OpenShift experience is a plus
• Understanding of cloud-native application development and deployment

Testing

• JUnit and Mockito
• REST API testing
• Selenium, Cypress, or similar UI automation tools
• Experience developing automated unit, integration, and functional tests

Preferred Skills

• Experience developing applications in the banking or financial services industry
• Knowledge of financial services technology and enterprise application architecture
• Experience working with large-scale distributed systems
• Knowledge of event-driven architecture and messaging technologies such as Kafka
• Experience with OAuth 2.0, OpenID Connect, JWT, and enterprise authentication mechanisms
• Experience with observability and monitoring tools such as Splunk, AppDynamics, Dynatrace, or Grafana
• Familiarity with Agile methodologies and DevSecOps practices
• Experience working in highly regulated environments with strong security and compliance requirements

Professional Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
• 7+ years of professional software development experience, with significant experience in Java full-stack development.
• Strong communication, analytical, problem-solving, and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively within a distributed engineering team.
• Strong understanding of software development lifecycle, Agile methodologies, and enterprise application development.
• Demonstrated ability to lead technical initiatives and mentor development teams.
