AI Developer / AI Engineer – Generalist (Any language, mid level to principal, USC or GC only)

Overview

Optomi is partnering with a leading consulting organization that is building out a dedicated AI engineering team to support a variety of client initiatives across industries.

This is a generalist AI development role for someone who understands the underlying concepts of building and implementing AI solutions rather than being tied to a specific technology, framework, or cloud platform. You will have the opportunity to work across AWS, Azure, and GCP, while gaining exposure to a wide range of programming languages, AI/ML technologies, development tools, and client environments.

The team is being built at multiple levels, from mid-level through Principal, with opportunities to work on everything from AI-powered applications and tools to intelligent agents and broader AI solutions.

What You'll Do

• Design, develop, and implement AI-powered applications, tools, and solutions for a variety of client needs.
• Work with AI agents, LLMs, generative AI, RAG, AI workflows, and related technologies.
• Apply core AI engineering concepts to solve business and technical problems across different industries.
• Work across AWS, Azure, and GCP, selecting technologies and services based on the needs of each engagement.
• Develop solutions using a variety of programming languages, frameworks, APIs, and AI/ML tooling.
• Collaborate with architects, engineers, data professionals, and business stakeholders to translate requirements into practical AI solutions.
• Evaluate emerging AI technologies and determine how they can be applied to real-world client use cases.
• Contribute to the architecture, development, testing, deployment, and ongoing improvement of AI solutions.
• Adapt to different technology environments and client requirements across consulting engagements.

What We're Looking For

• Experience developing or implementing AI-powered applications or solutions.
• Strong understanding of AI/ML and generative AI concepts, with the ability to apply those concepts across different technologies.
• Experience working with LLMs, AI agents, RAG, prompt engineering, AI APIs, or similar AI technologies.
• Strong software development fundamentals and experience working with one or more programming languages such as Python, Java, JavaScript/TypeScript, C#, or Go.
• Exposure to one or more major cloud platforms, with the ability and interest to work across AWS, Azure, and GCP.
• Ability to learn and work with new technologies, frameworks, and tools quickly.
• Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to approach AI from both a technical and practical business perspective.
• Comfortable working in a consulting environment, where projects, technologies, and client requirements may change from engagement to engagement.
