Sr Software Engineer

We’re looking for two highly skilled backend engineers to help lead a full backend refresh and rewrite effort. The team recently completed a major front-end migration to Svelte and is now focused on modernizing the backend for scale, reliability, and long-term maintainability.

What You’ll Do

• Lead backend development using Java and Spring Boot to refactor and rebuild existing services and modules.
• Design, build, and maintain responsive single-page applications (SPAs) using React or Svelte, delivering fast, intuitive user experiences across desktop and mobile.
• Architect reusable, well-structured component libraries that keep the UI consistent and speed up feature development.
• Work hands-down on performance optimization — threading, async processing, scaling servers, and improving overall architecture.
• Build and maintain automated unit, integration, and end-to-end testing frameworks.
• Collaborate closely on site reliability, uptime, and debugging critical issues such as memory leaks and performance bottlenecks.
• Help shape technical direction for the final iteration of the product as the company moves toward a potential exit.
• Contribute to decisions on refactoring strategy, infrastructure improvements, and architectural planning.

What We’re Looking For

• Deep experience with Java performance tuning, Spring Boot async tasks, and distributed server infrastructure.
• 3+ years of professional front-end development experience building production SPAs.
• Strong proficiency in React (hooks, context, component lifecycle) or Svelte/SvelteKit (reactivity, stores, component composition), with willingness to work across both.
• Strong background in automated testing (unit/integration/e2e).
• Experience improving system reliability, uptime, and debugging complex production issues.
• Hands-on experience refactoring or rewriting large, complex backends.
• Ability to execute independently while communicating clearly and contributing to architectural decisions.
• Bonus: experience with large-scale codebase modernization, module-based refactoring, or migrations from Hibernate to jOOQ.
