Title: SDET – Java Test Automation

Location: Albany, NY

Initial Training: 2 weeks onsite in Albany, NY at the start of the assignment

Onsite Requirement: 2 days per quarter after initial training

Employment Type: Contract to Hire

Duration: 12 Months

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced SDET – Java Test Automation professional with a strong background in Java-based enterprise applications and test automation. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience developing automation frameworks, API testing, database validation, and integrating automated tests into CI/CD pipelines.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and maintain test automation frameworks and scripts using Selenium with Java.
  • Develop and test enterprise applications using Core Java/J2EE and Spring Framework.
  • Work with Hibernate/JPA and Java build tools such as Maven and Gradle.
  • Develop automated tests using JUnit and/or TestNG.
  • Analyze complex business rules and develop automation scripts to validate application functionality.
  • Develop and test RESTful web services using JSON and XML.
  • Perform API testing using Postman and/or REST Assured.
  • Write simple and complex SQL queries for application and database validation.
  • Work with relational databases and perform database validation and testing.
  • Integrate automated tests into CI/CD pipelines using Jenkins, Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions, or similar tools.
  • Troubleshoot automation failures and application issues.
  • Collaborate with development and QA teams in an Agile environment.
  • Support large-scale enterprise applications with complex integrations and high availability requirements.

Required Qualifications

  • 5–8 years of professional experience in software development, SDET, QA automation, or related roles.
  • Strong experience with Core Java/J2EE and enterprise application development.
  • Hands-on experience with Spring Framework, Hibernate/JPA, Maven/Gradle, and JUnit/TestNG.
  • Strong experience developing Selenium automation using Java.
  • Experience designing or developing test automation frameworks.
  • Experience testing RESTful APIs, JSON, and XML.
  • Experience with Postman and/or REST Assured.
  • Strong knowledge of relational databases and SQL.
  • Experience writing complex SQL queries and performing database validation.
  • Experience integrating automated testing into CI/CD pipelines.
  • Strong analytical, debugging, and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience supporting complex, enterprise-scale applications.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with Angular or other modern JavaScript frameworks.
  • Experience building automation frameworks from the ground up.
  • Experience with mobile testing.
  • Knowledge of Docker and Kubernetes.
  • Experience with AWS or Azure cloud platforms.
  • Familiarity with performance and security testing.
  • Experience working with highly integrated enterprise applications.
  • Strong communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
