Mechanical Automation Engineer

Position Overview

Mechanical Design Automation

· Automate design sheets, reports, and validation processes for transformer mechanical components (tank, brackets, clamps, top cover, braces, etc.).

· Convert engineering calculation procedures into robust, user-friendly software applications.

· Integrate mechanical design standards (EN manuals, ASME guidelines, NEC requirements) into automated tools.

· Build tools that eliminate dependency on late-stage FEA corrections by embedding rule-based engineering checks upfront.

Software Development

· Design and develop desktop applications using VB.NET, .NET Framework/.NET Core.

· Integrate applications with SQL Server, Oracle, or MySQL databases for storing design data and historical project records.

· Optimize database queries and application performance.

· Upgrade legacy tools and improve UI/UX for better usability.

Process Improvement & Cycle Time Reduction

· Identify manual engineering bottlenecks

· Develop structured templates and rule-based validation to reduce design rework.

· Support automation pipeline projects such as:

o Tank automation upgrades

o Cable routing template tools

o Conduit routing automation

· Create scalable tools that reduce plant-to-plant variation.

Collaboration & Technical Support

· Work closely with:

o Mechanical Design Engineers

o FEM/Analysis team

o Automation vertical

o Shop feedback teams

o Provide training and documentation for developed tools.

o Support rollout and change management across engineering teams.
