MBD Controls Engineer – HVAC / VAVE

Job Description:

• 4+ years of experience in Model-Based Development (MBD), control algorithm development, verification/validation, sustaining engineering, and thermal simulation, preferably within HVAC / thermal management systems.
• Strong hands-on experience developing, implementing, and refining control algorithms using MATLAB/Simulink, ensuring compliance with system specifications, functional requirements, and performance targets.
• Experience developing and executing unit, integration, and model-level tests using MATLAB/Simulink to verify and validate control algorithms.
• Hands-on experience with Simulink, MATLAB, Stateflow, and FMI/FMU, including model-based verification, validation, and simulation.
• Strong experience in HVAC control systems, including thermal management, temperature control, pressure/flow control, compressor/fan/pump control, and related HVAC system modeling and controls.
• Experience with thermal simulation/modeling and analysis of HVAC or thermal systems to optimize system performance, efficiency, and reliability.
• Experience with VAVE (Value Analysis / Value Engineering) activities, including identifying cost-reduction opportunities, evaluating design alternatives, optimizing system/component performance, and supporting cost-effective engineering solutions.
• Ability to perform design trade-off analysis, root-cause analysis, and control-system optimization while balancing performance, reliability, quality, and cost.
• Support lab/bench testing and validation by analyzing test results, identifying control-related issues, troubleshooting system behavior, and implementing corrective actions.
• Experience correlating simulation/model results with physical/lab test data and refining control algorithms based on validation results.
• Collaborate with controls, systems, mechanical, electrical, thermal, and test engineering teams throughout the development and sustaining lifecycle.
• Experience with requirements traceability, verification plans, test procedures, and documentation for control systems.
• Strong understanding of feedback/control systems, PID control, state machines, system dynamics, and control-loop tuning.
• Experience supporting sustaining engineering and continuous improvement, including field issues, design changes, performance improvements, and product reliability.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to investigate complex HVAC/thermal/control-system issues.
