Data Engineer

We're looking for a Data Engineer to join a growing data team supporting a large-scale data transformation programme. This contract role will focus on building and optimising data pipelines, improving data quality and governance, and helping migrate operational data onto a modern enterprise data platform.

The Role

You will:

• Build and optimise ETL/data pipelines across multiple data sources
• Improve data processes, governance and data quality
• Work with large, complex datasets to support business priorities
• Develop solutions using the Azure data stack
• Support the migration of operational data from legacy SQL environments to a strategic insights platform
• Collaborate with technical and business stakeholders to deliver scalable data solutions

Essential Skills

• Strong SQL experience
• Python development experience
• Azure Databricks
• Azure Data Factory
• Azure cloud platform experience
• Experience building and maintaining ETL/data pipelines

Desirable Skills

• R programming experience
• Azure Synapse
• ADLS
• REST APIs
• Power BI
• Data warehousing and dimensional modelling

About You

• 3-8+ years' experience in Data Engineering
• Strong understanding of modern data platforms and engineering best practices
• Comfortable working across data integration, transformation and optimisation initiatives
• Able to quickly get up to speed and add value within an established team
• Passionate about delivering high-quality, scalable data solutions
