Senior Software Engineer - Data Fabric

We’re partnering with a leading enterprise software company to hire a Senior Software Engineer who will help build and scale a sophisticated platform used to power complex, mission-critical applications.

This isn’t maintenance engineering.

You’ll tackle challenges around scale, performance, reliability and flexibility across a platform whose scope extends from the high-performance data layer to cross-platform user interfaces and the design tools used to build applications.

What You’ll Do

🔹 Design and build enterprise-grade software in a full-stack Java and web technology environment

🔹 Solve emergent production and system problems, then build the software and automation that prevents them from happening again

🔹 Design for availability, latency, scalability, efficiency and long-term reliability

🔹 Work with large, high-performance, real-time distributed data systems

🔹 Apply strong knowledge of data structures, algorithms and design patterns to complex engineering challenges

🔹 Use both object-oriented and functional programming approaches to implement features effectively

🔹 Contribute meaningfully to feature breakdowns, sizing, technical design and implementation

🔹 Continuously identify opportunities for code refactoring and performance optimization, and champion those efforts across the team

🔹 Help elevate engineering practices, development speed, quality, stability and overall team performance

🔹 Clearly communicate technical designs, both verbally and in writing, to small and medium-sized technical audiences

What We’re Looking For

You’ll likely bring:

• 5+ years building and delivering enterprise-grade software applications

• Strong fluency in Java, Hibernate, RDBMS and JDBC

• Experience with CI/CD in cloud environments, including technologies such as AWS and Jenkins

• Strong understanding of systems, algorithms, object-oriented design and/or Web API design

• Experience solving complex problems within large-scale, high-performance distributed systems

• Demonstrated contribution to feature breakdown, sizing and technical design

• A strong Agile and quality-first engineering mindset

• BE/B.Tech/BS in Computer Science or a related technical discipline

And perhaps most importantly: you’re a tinkerer at heart. You see a difficult system problem and instinctively want to figure out why it behaves the way it does, how far it can scale and how to make it better.

Location

This position is based in McLean, Virginia and is in-office 5 days per week.

In-person collaboration is an intentional part of the company’s engineering culture, so candidates should be comfortable working onsite full time.
