ABOUT THE BUSINESS

We're working with a rapidly growing ecommerce business.

The company has experienced significant growth over the last 12–18 months and is now making a major investment into its internal technology capability.

Technology is becoming increasingly central to the business, with a substantial pipeline of e-commerce improvements, new applications, integrations and internal systems planned.

They are now building an internal development team around their CTO, creating an opportunity to join at an early stage and have genuine influence over how their technology function develops.

THE ROLE

They're looking for a Shopify Developer to join their team in Plymouth.

You'll work directly alongside the CTO, taking ownership of development across an established Shopify ecommerce platform.

This isn't a role where every technical decision will be made for you.

You'll be given business requirements and project scopes and expected to understand the problem, recommend an appropriate technical solution and take that solution through development, testing and deployment.

The immediate focus will be Shopify development, but as the internal engineering team grows there will be opportunities to contribute to broader applications, integrations and bespoke internal software.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Develop and maintain the company's Shopify ecommerce platform
• Build and customise Shopify themes using Liquid
• Develop new functionality using JavaScript and TypeScript
• Build and integrate Shopify apps and third-party services
• Work with APIs and external systems
• Translate business requirements into practical technical solutions
• Take ownership of development from initial requirement through to production
• Use Git and established development workflows to manage code
• Test, troubleshoot and improve existing functionality
• Work directly with the CTO on new ecommerce and technology projects
• Contribute to development standards as the internal engineering team grows

ESSENTIAL EXPERIENCE

• Commercial Shopify development experience
• Shopify Liquid
• JavaScript and/or TypeScript
• HTML and CSS
• Shopify theme development and customisation
• Git / version control
• Experience delivering production ecommerce functionality
• Ability to work independently and solve technical problems
• Comfortable taking ownership of projects rather than requiring heavily defined development tasks
• Able to work onsite in Plymouth 5 days per week

DESIRABLE, NOT ESSENTIAL
