HIL Test Engineer | Temporary

We are looking to hire a HIL Test Engineer to join one of our teams for a key client.

Responsibilities

• Rebuild, standardize, and commission physical HIL test setups for intrusion control panels, sensors, and peripheral devices.
• Leverage Raspberry Pi (GPIO, I2C, SPI, UART, Ethernet) to control test rigs, simulate sensor inputs, inject electrical faults, and manage peripheral hardware.
• Design and assemble test fixtures, custom wiring harnesses, relay boards, and breakout circuits for clean and repeatable test environments.
• Rapidly onboard and implement automated test cases directly into our proprietary in-house test framework.
• Develop modular automation scripts (primarily Python / shell scripting) interfacing with the in-house framework and test rig hardware.
• Automate functional, regression, boundary, and stress tests for embedded intrusion system features.
• Validate embedded communication buses and interfaces (CAN, Ethernet/IP, and serial protocols) between the intrusion system and test controllers.
• Automate signal monitoring, power cycling, and status feedback capture via Raspberry Pi interfaces.
• Deliver clear documentation including test bench wiring schematics, pinout mapping, troubleshooting manuals, and test execution guides.
• Facilitate handover and technical walkthroughs for the internal engineering team.

Skills/Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or equivalent.
• 3+ years of hands-on experience in embedded hardware testing / HIL test bench design.
• Strong practical experience configuring and utilizing Raspberry Pi (Raspberry Pi OS, Linux scripting, GPIO control, serial communication) (Mandatory).
• Hands-on electrical prototyping skills: building test cables, soldering, interfacing relays, level shifters, and power supplies.
• Proficiency in Python for script-based automation and interacting with hardware APIs/serial interfaces.
• Proven ability to quickly adapt to and develop within a custom / in-house proprietary test framework.
• Experience using multimeters, oscilloscopes, and logic analyzers to debug signal integrity and communication issues.
