Data Governance Analyst

Summary

Carex is partnering with a electrical solutions industry partner to hire a Data Governance Analyst who will play a key role in advancing enterprise data governance initiatives. This position will partner with Data Owners, Data Stewards, business stakeholders, and technical teams to deliver high-quality, business-driven data solutions.

The Data Governance Analyst will support the implementation and ongoing management of data governance capabilities, including data cataloging, master data management (MDM), data quality, metadata management, and data profiling. This role will help ensure governance initiatives align with business requirements, deliver measurable value, and promote the integrity, consistency, accessibility, and usability of organizational data.

What You'll Do

• Execute and support enterprise data governance policies, standards, procedures, and best practices.
• Partner with Data Owners and Data Stewards to establish clear data ownership, stewardship, and accountability.
• Ensure assigned data domains comply with established governance standards.
• Promote data literacy and help foster a data-centric culture across the organization.
• Advocate for change management efforts related to data governance adoption, processes, and tool implementation.
• Develop, monitor, and report on data quality metrics and key performance indicators (KPIs).
• Identify data quality issues, analyze root causes, and coordinate remediation activities with business and technical stakeholders.
• Partner with Data Owners and Data Stewards to define business validation and data quality rules.
• Support continuous improvement initiatives focused on improving the quality and reliability of enterprise data.
• Maintain business glossary terms, definitions, and related governance documentation.
• Collaborate with technical teams to document data lineage and maintain accurate metadata.
• Maintain metadata within the enterprise data catalog and ensure information remains current and accurate.
• Define and maintain master data standards that promote consistency across systems and business functions.
• Review master data creation and change requests and support governance processes associated with those requests.
• Assist with identifying and resolving duplicate records and other master data quality issues.
• Participate in MDM implementation and enhancement initiatives.
• Support the definition of survivorship, matching, and related master data rules.
• Support Data Owners and Data Stewards in creating and maintaining business metadata within the enterprise data catalog.
• Classify data assets and help drive adoption and effective use of the data catalog throughout the organization.
• Collaborate with technical stewards to continuously improve metadata quality and completeness.
• Assist business areas in identifying and governing critical data elements.
• Coordinate business decisions related to data definitions, standards, ownership, and governance.
• Identify opportunities to improve business processes that affect data collection, management, and quality.
• Recommend process enhancements that improve data capture at the source and reduce downstream data quality issues.
• Identify opportunities to eliminate redundant data collection and reduce manual work through standardization and process improvements.
• Perform other related duties as required and assigned.
• Travel up to 10% as business needs require.
• Work within standard business hours of 7:00 AM to 5:00 PM, Monday through Friday, with flexibility to work outside standard hours when necessary to meet business needs.

What You'll Bring

• Bachelor’s degree in Business, Information Systems, Data Analytics, or a related field, or equivalent relevant professional experience.
• 5+ years of experience in data governance, data management, data analysis, or a related discipline.
• Experience supporting enterprise data governance programs, standards, policies, and processes.
• Working knowledge of data quality, metadata management, data cataloging, master data management, and data profiling concepts.
• Experience developing or monitoring data quality metrics, KPIs, validation rules, and remediation activities.
• Ability to analyze data quality issues, identify root causes, and collaborate with stakeholders to develop sustainable solutions.
• Experience maintaining business glossaries, business definitions, metadata, and data lineage documentation.
• Understanding of master data concepts, including data standards, duplicate management, matching, and survivorship rules.
• Ability to partner effectively with Data Owners, Data Stewards, technical teams, and business stakeholders.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to translate business needs into practical data governance solutions.
• Strong communication and facilitation skills with the ability to promote data literacy and governance adoption across diverse stakeholder groups.
• A continuous improvement mindset with the ability to identify opportunities to standardize processes, improve data capture, and reduce manual effort.
• Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and self-initiative.
• Willingness and ability to travel up to 10%.
