Software Engineer

We're hiring on behalf of a Haystack partner!

The Role

• You will join an Engineering Architecture team and be responsible for the architecture of one or more product lines, balancing long-term technical health with short-term delivery capabilities.

• You will design scalable, secure, and maintainable solutions across a heterogeneous landscape, from desktop systems to cloud services, in close collaboration with engineering, product management, and security.

• You will drive modernization initiatives, including cloud-native and AI-native architectures, and document architectural decisions, target states, and roadmaps.

• You will coach engineers and leads, establish reusable patterns and reference implementations, and actively shape the architecture community, principles, and standards.

• You will integrate AI tooling, such as agents and workflows, into architectural concepts and design systems that maximize their potential.

What You'll Need

• Several years of experience as a Software or Solution Architect in large, distributed SaaS or enterprise systems, with demonstrable architectural responsibility and decision-making authority.

• An outstanding academic degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a comparable technical field with excellent results.

• Deep technical expertise in modern software architecture (microservices, cloud-native design, security-by-design, eventing, and integration patterns) and a broad technical foundation across C++, Java, Python, and Kubernetes/cloud stacks.

• Proven effective use of AI in software engineering, ideally with practical experience in agentic coding tools and designing AI pipelines and harnesses.

• Fluent German and English, strong communication skills, high technical credibility, a hands-on mentality, excellent problem-solving abilities, and a proactive, innovative mindset aligned with a healthcare purpose and entrepreneurial spirit.
