Our client is a fully licensed UK digital bank transforming everyday money management through simple, technology-driven financial services. They combine the security of regulated banking with an intuitive mobile experience, offering interest-earning current accounts, savings through a Flexible Cash ISA, personal loans, spending insights, shared-expense tools, and fee-free overseas card spending. Built around transparency, control, and financial progress, they use modern banking technology to help customers organize their finances, build positive money habits, and make their money work harder.

Your Daily Tasks

• Lead the implementation of new features through a Continuous Delivery approach to ensure seamless and efficient delivery
• Collaborate within an Agile cross-functional team of Product Managers, Product Designers, and Developers
• Champion SCRUM, Kanban, and Pair Programming methodologies and adapt them to meet project requirements
• Lead the entire product development lifecycle from initial conceptualization through final deployment
• Maintain high standards for code quality and maintainability while applying pragmatic solutions to complex problems
• Promote an inclusive, collaborative, transparent, and non-hierarchical culture that values talent over job titles
• Develop backend microservices using Clojure and apply experience with other functional programming languages
• Build mobile applications using React Native and Redux
• Use Kafka to manage asynchronous messaging
• Use AWS to manage cloud infrastructure
• Use Docker to deploy services
• Use Terraform to provision and deploy infrastructure
• Develop proficiency in Clojure, React Native, Redux, Kafka, AWS, Docker, and Terraform
• Expand expertise in functional programming, new languages, and frameworks
• Contribute effectively within an Agile development team and strengthen team collaboration
• Contribute to Open Source libraries and explore new technologies to advance the digital banking platform

The Qualifications We Seek

• 3-5 years of relevant experience in software engineering or software development
• Ability to apply technologies effectively to solve technical challenges, integrate third-party tools, and adapt existing code to new requirements
• Ability to apply design patterns effectively in code architecture, recognize anti-patterns, and follow software development best practices
• Ability to break down medium-complexity tasks into achievable subtasks, estimate effort accurately, and adjust plans based on emerging challenges
• Ability to deliver against planned milestones, communicate progress effectively, and identify and address potential delays
• Ability to evaluate technical options, weigh trade-offs, make informed decisions, and involve stakeholders appropriately
• Ability to optimize development processes, recommend improvements, and contribute to team workflow improvements
• Broad technological knowledge with the ability to explore new technologies, languages, and frameworks
• Ability to participate in system design discussions, contribute to architectural decisions, and design medium-complexity components
