Dynamics 365 Developer (Field Service)
Indexed description
Dynamics 365 Developer (CE / Field Service)
Remote, US
About the role
This one is build first and configure second. You will be writing the parts of Dynamics that do not come out of the box, on an implementation that is live now and moving quickly, for a business where the system is used hard every day by a large field workforce.
You will work across Field Service, Sales and Dataverse, extending the platform where it needs to go further and building the integrations that connect it to the wider enterprise stack. Alongside that, there are in-house applications the team has built over the years that still need to run properly while the migration happens, so you will be reading other people's code as well as writing your own.
About the company
Our client is an established US business with a large field service operation. They are part way through a significant Dynamics 365 programme with an external implementation partner, and they are building the internal capability to own and extend the platform themselves rather than staying dependent on outside help.
You would join a settled in-house development team with very low turnover. There is a lot of variety in the work and a lot of scope to make the platform your own.
What you will be doing
- Designing, building, testing and deploying across Dynamics 365 Field Service, Sales and Dataverse
- Configuring and extending tables, forms, views, business rules, workflows, security roles and solution components
- Writing the custom layer where the product will not stretch, including plug-ins, web resources, custom connectors and PCF controls
- Building and supporting integrations through REST APIs and Power Platform connectors, including a significant finance system integration
- Working alongside the implementation partner on data mapping, validation, testing and issue resolution
- Supporting and maintaining existing in-house applications through the migration
- Debugging production issues, finding root causes and turning recurring problems into permanent fixes
- Documenting what you build and passing knowledge into the wider team
What we need from you
- Real hands-on Dynamics 365 CE development. Configuration-only backgrounds will not be enough here
- C# to a solid standard, plus JavaScript for client-side work
- Dataverse, Power Apps and Power Automate
- Experience building integrations, working with REST APIs, JSON and SQL
- The ability to pick up somebody else's code, work out what it does and improve it
- Someone who shares what they know rather than sitting on it. This matters as much as the technical side
Nice to have, not essential
- Dynamics 365 Field Service specifically, or experience supporting a mobile field workforce
- MB-240 or similar certification
- Wider web application development experience
- Azure, Git, DevOps or CI/CD exposure
Salary and benefits
$115,000 to $125,000 depending on experience
401k with company matching, plus profit sharing
Full medical, dental and vision cover with low employee contributions
Paid holidays and PTO allowance
Life insurance, short term and long term disability
Tuition reimbursement
Location and travel
Fully remote anywhere in the US on Eastern or Central time, with one visit to site each quarter. If you live close to the client's office you can go in more often, but that is a choice rather than a requirement.
Work authorization
This role does not offer visa sponsorship. Applicants must be legally authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship now or in the future.
