Are you an experienced controls professional who enjoys solving complex automation challenges, supporting industrial clients, and seeing projects through from design to startup?

aeSolutions is seeking an Automation & Controls Specialist II with strong experience in Rockwell Automation platforms to join our team. In this role, you will develop and configure control system solutions for industrial facilities across a variety of industries, including chemical manufacturing, energy, food and beverage, life sciences, and other process industries.

This position is ideal for someone who has moved beyond entry-level controls work and is ready to take ownership of project deliverables, mentor junior team members, and serve as a trusted technical resource for clients.

What You'll Do

As an Automation Controls Specialist II, you will:

• Design and configure industrial control systems and associated hardware
• Develop PLC and HMI software applications for client projects
• Create and execute verification and test plans
• Support equipment installation, startup, commissioning, and troubleshooting activities
• Participate in factory acceptance testing (FAT) and site acceptance testing (SAT)
• Perform technical quality reviews of control system deliverables
• Interface directly with clients on technical matters
• Lead automation activities on assigned projects
• Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers and specialists
• Support a strong culture of safety, quality, and continuous improvement

Qualifications

Required

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or a related technical discipline
• 3+ years of industrial automation and control systems experience
• Demonstrated experience developing PLC and HMI applications
• Strong troubleshooting and commissioning experience in operating industrial facilities
• Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with multidisciplinary teams
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Willingness to travel up to approximately 35%

Preferred

• Experience with Rockwell Automation platforms, including:
• Experience with industrial networking and communications protocols
• Experience supporting batch or continuous process facilities
• Exposure to safety instrumented systems (SIS)
• Previous client-facing consulting experience
• Ability to lead technical teams and coordinate automation project execution

Travel & Working Conditions

• Up to 35% travel (valid driver’s license required)
• Occasional work in manufacturing, industrial, and construction environments
• Site visits may involve exposure to varying environmental conditions
• Most client travel is concentrated within the Southeastern United States, with occasional travel outside the region
