Due to our continuous growth, PQE Group is seeking a Automation Engineer to join our team for a full-time, fully onsite role in Bray. T

The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining and securing shopfloor production and control systems, with a focus on patching and cybersecurity recovery disciplines. This role requires strong technical expertise in industrial automation, OT security, and system patching within manufacturing environments.


Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:


  • Perform patching of shopfloor production systems and control systems in compliance with site procedures and security policies.
  • Implement and manage cybersecurity recovery measures to ensure operational resilience.
  • Collaborate with IT/OT teams to assess, prioritize, and deploy security patches and updates across automation and control networks.
  • Monitor and maintain system integrity, identifying vulnerabilities and applying mitigation strategies.
  • Ensure alignment with industry standards and regulatory requirements for industrial cybersecurity.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to patching, system performance, and integration.
  • Document patching schedules, procedures, and incident responses according to internal guidelines.


Required Qualifications:

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in automation engineering, with a focus on industrial control systems (e.g., PLC, SCADA, DCS).
  • Proven experience in patching shopfloor production systems within manufacturing environments.
  • Strong understanding of cybersecurity recovery disciplines, including backup/restore, incident response, and disaster recovery in OT environments.
  • Familiarity with shopfloor control systems (e.g., MES, HMI, industrial networks).
  • Knowledge of relevant standards (e.g., IEC 62443, NIST) is a plus.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and ability to work in a collaborative, team-oriented environment.
  • Language: Fluency in English is required
