Role Description As a Backend Engineer at Cyberspatial, you will design, implement, and maintain server-side components that power our network mapping platform. You will design, implement, and maintain server-side components that power our network mapping platform, with a strong emphasis on parsing, normalizing, and modeling data from diverse network protocols. You'll work directly with raw and structured telemetry — including packet captures, flow records, and protocol-specific metadata (e.g., SNMP, NetFlow/IPFIX, BGP, DNS, DHCP, or similar) — building parsers and decoders that turn messy, real-world network traffic into clean, queryable data. This is a full-time, remote role, offering flexibility while requiring reliable communication and self-directed work habits.

Qualifications

• Strong Back-End Web Development skills, including building and maintaining APIs and server-side services.
• Strong Protocol Parsing experience.
• Experience in Software Development with a focus on designing, implementing, and testing production-grade systems.
• Proficiency in Object-Oriented Programming (OOP) and applying clean architecture and design patterns.
• Solid Programming skills in one or more backend languages (e.g., Python, Go, Java, C#, or Node.js).
• Basic understanding of Front-End Development concepts to collaborate effectively with client-side engineers.
• Experience with databases (SQL and/or NoSQL), data modeling, and performance optimization.
• Familiarity with networking concepts, protocols, and the OSI model; exposure to cybersecurity or IT operations is a plus.
• Knowledge of cloud platforms, containerization, and CI/CD tools (e.g., AWS/GCP/Azure, Docker, Kubernetes, GitHub Actions).
• Ability to work independently in a remote environment, communicate clearly, and collaborate in distributed teams.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field, or equivalent practical experience.
