Job Description A leading aerospace and advanced technology organization is seeking a Generative AI Software Engineer to join an innovative research and development team focused on transforming software development processes and accelerating next-generation technology initiatives. This is a hands-on engineering role for someone passionate about Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, and Generative AI, whether through professional experience or significant personal projects.

The team is focused on exploring disruptive development methodologies, reducing technical debt, increasing system reusability, and enabling faster delivery of complex, safety-critical software solutions. The ideal candidate is curious, highly collaborative, and driven to solve challenging problems through experimentation and innovation.

This position is 100% on-site in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Required Skills & Experience

• Strong software engineering and application development experience
• Proficiency working in Unix/Linux environments
• Strong Python development skills
• Experience contributing to the development of complex software systems
• Understanding of AI/ML fundamentals through academic research, personal projects, or professional experience
• Experience building or deploying Generative AI solutions
• Experience with LLM development frameworks such as LangChain, Haystack, or similar tools
• Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to present technical concepts to large audiences
• Must be a U.S. Person or Permanent Resident (Green Card holder)

Desired Skills & Experience

• Hands-on experience with Large Language Models (LLMs) in a personal or professional setting
• Additional experience building solutions using LangChain or related orchestration frameworks
• Experience working in research, prototyping, or innovation-focused environments
• Exposure to safety-critical software development practices

What You Will Be Doing Daily Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and execute experiments that advance Generative AI capabilities for complex engineering and development environments
• Prototype and evaluate AI-powered solutions that improve productivity, quality, and development efficiency
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify opportunities for innovation and process improvement
• Provide technical mentorship, guidance, and support across multiple concurrent initiatives
• Contribute to the design and implementation of scalable AI/ML applications and services
• Investigate emerging AI technologies and rapidly validate new concepts through experimentation
• Promote a culture of ownership, transparency, data-driven decision-making, and continuous learning
