Vernovis is looking for a Senior Software Developer II who will be a hands-on developer focused on building and modernizing enterprise applications within a cloud-first environment. This person will design and develop cloud-native microservices and APIs using C#/.NET, while leveraging Microsoft Azure, Kubernetes/AKS, Docker, and Confluent Kafka to build scalable, event-driven solutions. They will help transition legacy applications to modern distributed architectures, integrate APIs and services across the enterprise, and ensure applications are secure, resilient, observable, and production-ready. The ideal candidate brings strong software engineering fundamentals along with proven, hands-on experience building and supporting Azure-based microservices using Kubernetes and Kafka.

What You'll Do:

• Design, develop, and support cloud-native microservices and APIs using C#/.NET Core within Microsoft Azure.
• Build, containerize, and deploy scalable applications using Docker, Kubernetes/AKS, and Azure App Services.
• Design and implement event-driven architectures using Confluent Kafka and modernize legacy .NET applications into distributed, cloud-first solutions.
• Develop secure RESTful APIs using OpenAPI, Azure API Management/Gateway, OAuth 2.0, and JWT.
• Build resilient, high-performing production applications using MongoDB, monitoring/observability tools, and modern DevOps practices.
• Serve as a senior technical contributor, partnering across technology teams to solve complex engineering challenges, influence architecture, and advance cloud modernization.
  

What You'll Have:

• Strong hands-on development experience with C# and .NET Core, including building enterprise applications, microservices, and RESTful APIs.
• Hands-on experience with Microsoft Azure, including deploying and supporting cloud-native applications using Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS) and Azure App Services.
• Experience designing and supporting containerized microservices using Docker and Kubernetes in production environments.
• Experience building event-driven architectures using Kafka, preferably Confluent Kafka, for enterprise application integration.
• Experience with API design and security, including OpenAPI, OAuth 2.0, JWT, and API management technologies.
• Familiarity with MongoDB or other NoSQL databases, CI/CD pipelines, DevOps practices, and observability tools such as Elastic, Dynatrace, or Datadog.
• Strong understanding of scalable, resilient distributed systems with the ability to troubleshoot complex application and integration issues.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field preferred; experience with Infrastructure as Code and Azure Functions/serverless architecture is a plus.
